How Great Is Your Nation?

Recommended Posts

Well since I've become reformed in my thinking that America is the problem with the world, I'd like for all of you to tell me of the wonders of your great nations and why I should stay in my dark hole or see the light.

Every nation has it's dark holes. ;)

Just look at what we did to Ireland in the 1840's (America actually came to help Ireland then)... :nono1:

I'm supposed to be positive... ok ... tea and scones. :clap3:

Do you you think it is, or isn't? Think I lost something there!

America isn't the problem with the world. People are. There are the finest examples of good people in every country, just as there are superb examples on how to be a complete knob.

Most knobs use their religion as a reason to 'change perception', then say their 'God' says they should invade some bugger so their 'religion' will be kept pure as driven snow. Bit like 'the Rice Krispies told me to do it'.....

You folks should be proud - you have a damn site more (or are allowed to!) national pride than we do. And the really scary thing is, you guys worked through your racist problems to good effect, we're still busy importing ours

Wonder if this topic will be a hornets nest :P

Oh yeah, we're damn fine inventors, used to be jolly good at conquering large places. And I think win hands down in the sense of humour department ;-)

Its just human nature for people to fight each other and have wars. America is the only superpower in the world, and so they get involved in everything, usually making the situation worse and then praising themselves for fighting for freedom blah blah blah. America isnt the problem its just human nature - oh and muslim extremists.

I don't think there's a problem with America or American people, as some of the other threads on here are suggesting, pumpdoc - it has got a bit silly in some other threads, I have to say and some very 'loose' talk has been going on.

For me, personally, I just find Bush worrying if your not living in America. Clinton, I had no problem with, I thought he was a great President, or he seemed to be. Now, I don't know what the perception of your Presidents are, because I don't live there so couldn't possibly know, but to us over here in Britain, Bush's reputation is not that good.

For example, when Bush was elected, the consensus in the media over here was that Bush Sr would be pulling the strings. Because of that, there was the distinct possibility that there would be a war on Iraq to settle the unfinished business of Bush Sr from the previous gulf war, even if 9/11 hadn't occurred. Now, that might just be the media being drama queens, or whatever, but I can't say I've seen much from Bush that would contradict this perception. Maybe the perception of Bush is different if your living in America? However, I think most people are intelligent enough to separate governments from the actual nation, because I think most governments/leaders/etc are poor, but that's just my own view.

I still believe in the ideal of world peace, I still live in hope that people will stop waging war in the name of religion because it most certainly isn't for religion, I still believe that most people are inherently decent, I still live in hope that the world will become better in my lifetime. I'm a fairly optimistic person!! I even believe there will be harmony on these forums, but I think there will be world peace first!! :D

Anyway, a nation that brought us Chuck Norris, can't be all that bad!!

USA is not the cause of any problem in the world, if you know something about history you know that we had war all the time and we will continue having war even if USA doesn't exist any more, can anyone tell me just a single time before USA of world peace, what I think is that USA made the world a better place after WWII, you can be sure that muslim extremist have made more damage to the world than USA, thay want to impose their religion and that the only reason why that religion still exist, you want to make the world a better place to live? all you have to do is give every country religion freedom like we have in USA and that's it, it will be the end of middle east problems, muslims are causing the problem over there is not USA, and in UK they have that problem too tehy can stand each other because they are catholic or protestant (I think this is the word) but none of them is really doing what Jesus want them to do it all in the bible and they are fighting each other when Jesus healed the ear of a man hurt by Peter, a man who was there to take jesus to jail and to be kill, and he healed him anyway so how can be somebody hurting another person and say that they are doing it in Jesus's name whoever has done this before, never did it in Jesus's name (like the Crusade) they did it in their own name and this is confusing a lot of people who think that real Christian did this, I can tell you that those were not real christians they were just killer like any other killer in the world.

Is not my intention to offend any body or any religion I just think that nobody can kill in the name of God, we were all created by God and if one of us can kill in the name of God, then we all can too but is not this way, if you think you can do this, you are not really praising and serving the real and only God.

USA did it when they were fighting Russia, This is like when you get the Driver license, you get it to drive by the law but it's up to you not to do it, you can blame the RMV ( Registry of Motor vehicle) for any accident you can cause by driving over the speed limit or not stopping a the red light or any other unlawful thing you want to do with you car and the license they gave you.

And what does a drivers license have to do with America providing weapons to the Taliban?

What I mean is that you can use anything in your hand to do eather a good or a bad in the case of talibans they use it to a bad thing, and as you said taliban did it, USA just provide them with the resourses but talibans did it is not USA's fault.

Another example is this: you can get a gun from somebody and a license to port that gun, but you don't get a license to kill anybody if you kill somebody is jsut your fault not anybody else's.

So if you give a monkey a gun and then the monkey shoots someone is it the monkey's fault or the person who gave it the gun.

I am talking about people with the same kind of brain but filled with different information, I'm not talking about animal, if you give a gun to a person, that person will know what he can do with it, but an animal like a monkey won't, but I can answer you in the same context, if give a banana to a monkey and that monkey kill somebody with the banana you can be sure that is not your fault.

Not actually correct - what you're referring to there is a small part of the UK, not the whole of the UK, for example I don't think any such conflict has existed in England for a long while, we certainly have not had a war about it for a few hundred years, at least.

I think you also need to examine other people's cultures a bit more - I am sure there is religious freedom in quite a few countries, there certainly is here and has been for a long time. I don't think you have any idea about religion in middle eastern countries, I know I certainly don't, but I doubt just saying you can worship whoever you want is going to solve the problem, I am sure it's a lot deeper routed than that. Also, you keep refeering to Jesus and that may be the foundation of your religion, but it may not be the foundation other peoples' religion. However, as I said earlier I don't think any war these days can be waged in the name of religion, it's an excuse not a reason.

I am sure there are solutions, we just need to find them.

:P typical ykick!!! ...
but what Schumikonen suggested was true! at the same time, you must consider the fact that, islamic(extremists) dont have the intention of converting the whole world to muslims nor is it that they dont recognise the right for others' existence, its just that when they are denied the basic rights they get irritated. one example of this is the continued massacres commited by israel (i am not pointing the jews), its been going on for decates and everyone knows it! if only there was no country like iran, egypt, sirya etc around, palestine would have disappeared from the world map long time back. but israel has already got away with a lot of massacres and no one did anything about it, thus rebels (now branded as islamic terrorists) sprung up from no where! and started attacking to gain attention, unfortunately for them and odinary citizens like us, it hasnt worked out in anyones favour! :( ....it has only made the world much unsafe! america is being targed by them(terrorists) because they continue supporting terrorists such as israel. the reason why muslims feel that they are being targeted is simply due to the fact that, in places like palestine, its the muslims who are being killed, since it has been going on and on, a natural sense of brotherh-hood is being formed in the muslim world, thats why you see pakistani men fighting for palestine when they are already at the brink of war with india!

well, my nation is famous for their rich hot food, stunning locations, nk :P and british invasion

May not have been in England, but England caused a lot of the religious problems within the UK, especially when concerning the Irish, as we imposed our faith on them...

I'm not religious at all, but we should have left others to their own religions.

Well not really - we didn't try to change the Irish from being Catholic, it's just that when we colonised Ireland it was with Protestants. However, the british empire may be blamed for quite a few problems, I am not denying that.

My point was, however, was that Shumikonen wrongly believed that the UK hate each other for being catholic or protestant, which just isn't true. In fact, I wouldn't even know what the denomination is of half of the people I know, etc, let alone hate them for it. I am presuming shcumikonen was referring to the conflict that has existed in Ireland, which is not indicative of the whole of the UK.

Well I think it is, as we held the responsibility to help when he didn't, therefore conflicts that exist today fall partly on our lap.

Like I pointed out in another thread, America and the Soviet Union gave weapons to virtually the whole world! It's about checks and balances.

In your monkey analogy, are you calling the Afganis monkeys? If not, then you have to give them the same credit as other humans and, yes, if you give an Afgan a weapon and that Afgan shoots someone, it is that Afgan's fault.

How do you mean exactly ?

When I said not really, I meant that we didn't try to change the Irish from being catholics. The thing is, the denominations usually went with the ruling body, in our case the King or Queen and that's the way it was, that's what life was life back then - the general popolous didn't really get much of an opinion.

However, you are missing the point - the UK doesn't have catholics and protestants hating each other in the UK as a whole does it ?
