[uPDATE]THIS IS GREAT

[/uPDATE]

Who can be a better guitarist than a Spanish guitarist?

Only another Spanish guitarist!

How can a non Spanish play the Spanish guitar so well... :eusa_think:

And one of the best pieces is El concierto de Aranjuez, composed by Rodrigo and Yepes the 10 string guitarist.

Mr Frank Zappa putting his apprentice, Steve Vai, through his paces. You can get this precise version on the album 'You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Volume 4'.

Cheers, Steve, I enjoyed that. Well, most of it............................shorts, not too keen on. What was little Stevie thinking?

I do like Vai, he's not my favourite guitarist, though he is obviously hugely talented, but he's such a humble person. Top notch.

He is, well was, one of the best Spanish guitarist. For me he was/is and will be the best. He always played a 10 string guitar for which is famous and now it is used by many others. His name was Narciso Yepes.

Yeah, it's not too bad at all, Chris.

I have seen him before, he's in one of the G3 concerts with Satriani & Vai, he was quite good on that too.

Thanks. I think his song in that clip is one of the best instrumentals of all time.

Well, she could have shagged my brains out. You know, if we're being critical, like.

Cool.

In the blues realm, there's a guy called Big Joe Williams who played a 9 string guitar. The basis behind it was that he didn't want any young whippersnapper picking up his guitar and playing it

Robert Randolph; looks like a rapper, plays slide guitar. Great band around him. 'Unclassified' is a great album. Check out the track 'squeeze'.

This is my favourite Jimi Hendrix live performance. I don't say that lightly because i'm a self confessed nut and uber collector of all things Jimi. This performance of 'Red House' was recorded at the Isle Of Wight festival in August 1970. He died the following month. He went through a baron spell of not playing his standards with a lot of passion. This version put that spell to an end. There is a lot of variety, flamboyance and technical mastery. A joy to hear him playing a Gibson Flying V. Much more earthy than a Fender Strat'. The note he hits at 4.04 still makes the hairs on my neck stand up everytime i hear it.

This recording is a condensed version of the performance. It comes in at the beginning of the vocal. The uncut version has at least another couple of minutes introduction. This version is from the film 'Jimi Hendrix' released in 1973. The full version of this performance can be found on the Isle Of Wight film and maybe on You Tube, with a bit of searching.

Anyone who thinks that Jimi was 'all show' needs to watch this.

Really hard to capture on video (and this one is particularly tinny) but here's TE with a bit of percussion followed by "Mombasa". Perhaps one of my favourite pieces of guitar music of all time. See him live if you get a chance.

He is noisy...

Hey, turn it down. If it's too loud, you're too old. :P

Highly enjoyable, that guy is ridiculously good. Just looked a tour dates; it seems he comes over here every six months. Slough in March would have been perfect, damn. Gonna either have to travel in November or wait until next year. I'm so loving this thread! I don't think i can top that.

But i'm going to put my thinking cap on and try...........!

I've turned it down a bit but I'm still too old. :meeting:

I feel younger when it is in the background.
