UrKo 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2007 imo massa was doing the right thing to defend the position although i imho that both were extremly lucky not to go off track, or damage the car to have a possible dnf. FA did overreacted after the race, but glad to see him apologize to FM.

I would have loved to have seen that

Eric 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2007 If they hit each other abit harder we could have seen a Webber victory. I would have loved to have seen that Thank god that didn't happen! (Eric never forgets when someone disses Scott Speed) I'm glad they hit. That was great. Phil had every right, hence my sig, which apparantly is a true story. I didn't see this, but I never watch post-race.

Jean Todt 4 Report post Posted July 22, 2007 Possibly Jay! But chances are he won't get investigated for dangerous driving in the pitlane. Ah well. Finally I wonder whether Alonso had some wet-weather settings on his car? Just a thought. But he was so much more competitive in those conditions. Maybe a wily move by the mono-brow in qualifying/race-restart/pitstops came into play. Alonso is good in wetting too!
Jean Todt 4 Report post Posted July 22, 2007 Indeed. I think Massa just made a minor mistake pushing too hard in the heat of the moment. That mistake was amplified by the rain and almost cost them both the race. It was a good battle, like Steve hinted. And Nando won it fair and square, it was pretty obvious that he was handling his car so much better than Massa...it was a beauty to watch. Yep....superb drive from Alonso. It was a beauty to watch Luizzi flying around.
Jem of the Shire 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2007 Wow! That opening 10 mins was absolutely crazy, Hamilton was EXTREMELY lucky not to hit the barrier & not to be hit by the Spyker that spun off, i'm disappointed that Button went off as he usually excels in these conditions. I'm glad for Webber that he finally got a podium, he drove very well today & deserved it. i'm really pi$$ed off that Kimi retired again. IMO he's better than Massa, and Massa's points total is being flattered by the fact that Kimi has now had 2 mechanical retirements. I think Kimi would probably have finished 2nd today, considering how crap Massa is in the wet. Special mention to Nick Heidfeld who quite clumsily rammed 2 drivers in the side sending them into a spin, and yet still came home in the points. Poor Ralf! The championship is wide open. Hamilton is really going to have to get back to winning ways if he's going to win the title. He'd better hope its dry at Hungary, cos last year Alonso was superb in the wet there. Incredibly exciting to watch today, wet races always are. Alonso again showed he is F1's current rainmaster. Massa once again showed that as soon as rain falls, he's all over the place
Halfie 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2007 It was just a fantastic race, I think the Massa Alonso thing was just a spat at the end of the race. Its how it goes, Alonso took the lead from Massa, Massa wont be happy. The more this Mclaren story (About espionage) goes on, the more it seems Mclaren may be fine. Even Bernie on the grid to ITV said he expected it was all a bit of nothing concerning the story. There was an article from a member of the sporting council who expected Mclaren to be exonerated. We will see what happens I just hope we can have a championship where the real winner is the one with the most points...
Max Mosley 2 Report post Posted July 22, 2007 Bernie saying that it will blow over doesn't mean anything. They were always going to stitch up a deal behind closed doors and then tell us it was all sorted amicably. Also, I don't know why we care whether there are points penalties or not. If McLaren have cheated then they (and the drivers) should be penalised.

Its how it goes, Alonso took the lead from Massa, Massa wont be happy. That;s s##t. Massa isn't being a whiner this time. Alonso won the mother****ing race and is whining that Phil hit him. This is car racing! GP stands for grand prix, as in a motor race, not gay parade. Someone forgot to inform Fred. And yes, this is coming from a die-hard Fernando fan. Sato 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2007 I thought you were a Speed fan first and foremost. Massa is a moaner, but I can understand him being a bit p**sed if Alonso accused him of doing it on purpose.
AleHop 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2007 If McLaren have cheated then they (and the drivers) should be penalised. I think it should be cleared that a month ago everybody was talking about penalty for the team only but now that Alonso is only two points behind Hamilton I see more and more people saying that it should be both the team and the drivers. Eric 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2007 I thought you were a Speed fan first and foremost.Massa is a moaner, but I can understand him being a bit p**sed if Alonso accused him of doing it on purpose. I've liked Alonso longer and get a little more into it since he is up front. But I like Speed more as a person, but Alonso more as a driver. I can agree with the last statement, Massa does whine a lot, but this time I really think Alonso needed to just shut up. It was a great battle and a fair one, too. Quiet One 15 Report post Posted July 22, 2007 That;s s##t. Clashing wheels is something we all like to see, and yes that is part of racing. Alonso wasn't "whinning" he was mad at the manoeuver that could have cost him a lot. Whether it was deliberate or not (and I am sure it was not) it was nonetheless a clumsy move by Massa. Yelling at other drivers for making stupid moves is alos part of racing. All in all, he was less of a "whiner" than Schumi, Coulthard, Trulli, Senna, Piquet, Mansell, etc. etc. etc. who at some moment in their careers also yelled at another driver. It was just a minor spat. So focusing on that to call Alonso a whiner is at least unfair. It would be like focusing on Nick's mistake with Ralf and say that Heidfeld is like Ide. I think the issue is that Massa should have given it up and not hit Alonso, but then again in the wet conditions its a racing incident. They are rivals, I wouldnt expect them to shake hands after Alonso did a great move to take the lead from him. Eitherway its been a fantastic race, never known rain to come on the first lap like that and make it so treacherous. Good call to bring out the red flag, it was becoming seriously unsafe, the Toro Rosso was lucky the safety car accelerated away or it might have been a nasty accident. No, I wouldn't expect them to go have sex after the race, either, but, I don't know, it seemed like Nando overdid it, it was good hard racing to me, but then again, I race stock cars on Saturday's, so I'm used to that kind of thing. Yeah, Tonio Liuzzi was lucky. But then he hit the tractor. All in all, a great grand prix, I loved seeing Fred and Phil battle at the end. Good stuff. If only Scott had finished the race, and secretly I was pulling for Winky to win...
Eric 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2007 yes..thanks!but i read that fernando also sweared at massa and i wanted to know how bad it was! (if it's true...) Yeah, I heard the both were cussing, too.
