Toyota drivers Timo Glock and Kamui Kobayashi arrive in Bahrain today and tomorrow for official Formula One pre-season tests.

Teammate and Toyota number one Jarno Trulli, meanwhile, will be jetting in at any time, a source at the Bahrain International Airport told the GDN last night. Kobayashi is the team's test driver.

It is still unclear however when Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa will be arriving.

Further, more than 30 Toyota team members touched down in the kingdom late last night, followed by a small group of Ferrari personnel.

Officials at the BIC also confirmed yesterday that both teams' equipment have started reaching the Sakhir circuit, and the available team members have begun setting up their garages.

The Bahrain tests will include two three-day sessions. The first continues until Wednesday, followed by the second session between February 9 and 11.

Williams has abandoned their testing at Barcelona a day earlier. Even though they did receive new parts for the wing, they have decided to rather leave early and work on the problem further at the factory.

Seems, Newey's cars getting faster! GOOD!

I think we are going to have an exiting season. I belive Mclaren and Ferrari will be the top, but it is going to be a close battle between BMW, RENAULT, RBR, STR and WILLIAMS. Honda, SA and FI 1 will be trio battling for anything higher than the last place. -_-

Toyota will be in that second group... Don't let their times and talk fool you into thinking they'll be that slow.

Testing has started with Raikkonen and Badoer (instead of the previously thought Massa) - the Brasilian will arrive on Wednesday to replace the testdriver. Then after a two day pause the two racing drivers will continue the work. Schumacher is definately not going to test here, he'll probably do so during the last (one but last) test of the winter.

Lot's of work will concentrate on the MECU once more, Ferrari want to get things perfectly right with it, without revealing its own secrets to McLaren.

Some new solutions regarding the management of the engine will be introduced in order to improve the control of the car thanks to a greater sensitivity of the accelerator.

Some new parts get extra attention at this test, in particular those on the (rear)suspension in order to better bring the power of the engine to the road. The same goes for optimising the ballast, especially when the tank gets emptier: we're talking about a variable of 90 kg here, which is about 15% of the total car weight.

We'll see how much work has been done on the aerodynamics of the sidepods but we'll probably have to wait for that till Spain...

No third F2008 is scheduled to debut in Bahrain, the two cars used so far have undergone 'a first class' revision, with all the components (including the chassis) having been put through a structural analysis.

I know that Testing isn't always accurate blah blah blah but the Ferraris are looking absolutely fantastic.

There is a lot less pressure on Kimi this time around and I can't really see any other team challeging them right now.

Thanks for the info Boudica.

That's a bit scary. One can only hope that a couple of other teams get their act together before March.
