The Official Testing Thread

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Considering this is my first post I would first like to say that there is some great insight on this forum and Im glad to be a part of it. Im a fairly new fan (since '03) but just as fanatical as everyone here.

It seems that the Mclarens are still running their V10 today. It looks very good in the Toyota camp if the Mclarens V10s are still unrestricted.

Toyota will have a race winning car this season, but it will be down to whether the drivers can get it to the top step of the podium, both are good on their day, but thats not enough! Lots of podiums, maybe 1 win? Its going to be close this year, ferrari and Renault seem the best so far, followed by toyota and Honda! Its gonna be close thats all im going to say! Toyota have the weaker line up out of those 4 teams, plus we mustn't forget mclaren!

The Mclarens are restricted V10s, I am pretty sure of it.

Indeed they are :clap3: , they're the only team left that are infact, apart from STR.

welcome new members

JV tested it yesterday, as far as I know Bmw Sauber will be joining up with the rest of the teams at Jerez next.

Both drivers definately drove the new car, I did notice they had different front wings with JV's car using the 'Ferrari 2005 scoop'.

The report read:

"Heidfeld did a total of 29 laps with the BMW Sauber F1.06, with a fastest time of 1m13.430s. Villeneuve drove 50 laps, his best in 1m14.037s. The BMW Sauber F1 Team continues testing in Valencia with both cars until Thursday."

Circuit debut of the BMW Sauber team

Nick Heidfeld puts the F1.06 though its paces

At 1.20 pm today Nick Heidfeld drove the very first lap with the BMW Sauber F1.06 at the Circuito de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo. After this installation lap he returned to the garage for the usual checks before continuing to clock up a total of 29 laps at this systems check.

"I have been much more nervous than before any other roll-out I have experienced because this is a bigger and long-term programme, and I feel so much passion for this project," said Heidfeld. "The first laps with the BMW Sauber F1.06 were absolutely trouble free, and to begin with I used intermediate tyres as the track was still damp in places. After this first experience I am really looking forward to the forthcoming test days, as we continue to work further in order to find out where we are."

BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen explained: "The initial roll-out is the most exciting moment of the year for the engineers. After some nine months of development and simulation we could finally run the car in real time for the first time and get feedback from the driver. We are very pleased that this first day of systems checking ran so smoothly. That’s a good beginning. Now the car is gaining momentum and getting faster and faster with every lap."

Unless you know something that we don't, he didn't. Yesterday NH took the F1.06 for a spin whilst JV took the C24 out to test new traction control and not look completily useless to the press.

It implies that only one person could drive the F1.06 yesterday. And NH was naturaly going to get the honours. So if JV was just to stand there and watch it would have been useless. I am much happier that he got to keep praticing with the new technology NH got to test in Jerez rather then to do nothing.

Whatever rocks your boat.... You are far to easy to wind up, and far to young and naive to argue with.
