Whooooaaaa... Murray, I quite remembered about the others but I didn't remember Symmonds saying Alonso could become irrational. Some journalists should ask him about that now.

For the M&M's (Murray&maure) I think Alonso has changed a lot because of last year. I wouldn't be able to say if he is faster than he used to be but I think he is now more mature and he is quite different in public relationships. He is still far from perfect, I know.

Yeah I wonder whether Alonso will change. Perhaps he will, and perhaps he will have to if he wants to race in a competitive team. I hope he can because I'd love to see him and Kubica battle it out in identical cars.

I'm honestly not quite sure what your point is. Anyways perhaps we agree that Kimi is quite happy being lazy, being the favourite for the title despite it, and doesn't mind being thoroughly shown up by a guy most of us think of as a spinning top.

Oh come on, Muzza, get with it. The point is that for all your commenting about Kimi's apparent deficiencies and laziness, he is ahead of Massa and only 5pts behind Lewis, with 7 races to go. Indeed, Mr Best where did it all go wrong

Edit: Also, I am sure by this stage of his life, Kimi knows what works for him.

Sure he might win the WDC. I'm not saying otherwise. But imho that proves very little about his talent. If it makes him happy and earns him lots of money, then that's great. But it doesn't prove anything about his ability. To argue otherwise is like saying the Spice Girls were a great band because they topped the charts. At the end of the day, though, Kimi is recognised through the F1 fraternity as being a supremely quick driver. He's now also won a WDC. I guess he's also disproved the notion that he's a carbreaker. He's beating his team mate in the same car. Yeah, he's having a little blip at the moment, though I am not sure what else he needs to prove?

In pre season testing Kimi spoke highly of the F2008. I don't think Ferrari started developed their car only around Massa's driving style, it just seems that as the season has unfolded, Massa is making better use of his machinery than Kimi is. Could it be that Massa's testing feedback offers more for Ferrari to work with in regards to the ongoing development of the F2008 compared to what feedback Kimi is able to offer? I'm not suggesting Kimi is lazy, but maybe he isn't able to communicate his impressions to the team as well as Massa can, and as a result Massa is starting to out perform him. I'm a big Kimi fan, and I like seeing him win. When he's on his game, Kimi is a pleasure to watch. But he just isn't for some reason, and I don't think it's because Ferrari deliberately favour Massa.

Did you read the post where I quoted Bridgestone's spokesman relating how technically proficient Kimi is, moreso than Massa.... The question about motivation or commitment might be an issue Jez, remember, he only wanted to win 1 championship, thats what he related to Peter Windsor, but then, that was back in the Mclaren days....

It's only Kimi's quali that's a problem, which is due to the fact that the Ferrari is easy on it's tyres, which means over a single lap or just a few laps, the car understeers - apparently Kimi hates understeering cars. His race pace on the other hand is fantastic, totally awesome in fact, the problem is he starts so low he gets stuck behind slower cars for the first stint and it destroys his races (despite the fact he has the potential to be the fastest on track). That's modern F1.

Anyway this is something which has only happened in the last two races, so it's more than likely Kimi will end the trend at Valencia and that it's all been overblown a bit much.

Ah, thanks Brad. Well then if its not a feedback contribution issue, maybe it is a motivational thing as you (and others) say. Or maybe that's also wrong. Maybe we need to allow the guy his off day or two. As mentioned earlier, he's ahead of his team mate some of us, myself included, might be making mountains out of mole hills!

OK. I think we're talking at cross purposes. I'm arguing that Kimi's reputation has fallen since he went to Ferrari. You're replying that he doesn't care. I think we actually agree on all of that.

Alonso at Ferrari would be an even bigger gamble for Nando than his time at Mclaren - Felipe will beat almost any driver in a bridgestone shod Ferrari so nando will have to get used to losing occasionaly. I think this will be a marriage made in hell, but I guess nando'r reputed
