Yes, the indians have a rough time, but in Dubai's defence, they still get paid far more than they would in India, and can support their families better by being here than in India! BUT, they do have it tough, and are treated as scum by the locals, and in fact, the westerners too!

Dubai is not perfect, no where is, and it has got some BIG problems! But, I love it here, and thats all that matters, as long as I'm happy here, and enjoy living here thats all that matters in the end, I can't live my life feeling sorry for the Indian workers and stuff everyday, at the end of the day they still chose to come here, and know what its like so they made that choice!

But, you do live in a bubble in this city, which in actual fact is kind of nice as you escape from the death and destruction happening in the rest of the world!

...and strangely, we've had 5 clients within Dubai, all of whom have defaulted on their agreement, all are now court cases - as business people, they're the pits - untrustworthy and no integrity (I've now tripled our prices to them to compensate).

Not having a go at you Ben, just gets my goat about the hypocrisy of the place.

As a quick aside... the major reason for the push in tourism to Dubai is because they know their oil won't last forever and they need to replace the dosh. If that's the case, how the feck will anyone get there?

Amazes me how you guys all so opinionated on a place 90% of you have never visited, and know all you know from news stories you have read!

I'll put it this way, I would much rather live in Dubai than my own country, because at least here I can walk down the road and not be attacked/knifed/yelled abuse at etc! This country is unbelievably safe and most of the crime happens in the labour camps, when it does! My mother, gets treated with the utmost respect, and in a way, this is how the UK used to be like, women are treated far better than men, and i have read numerous comments on various news websites by people who are under the illusion none of us have any freedoms in the UAE! If that is the case then I would rather not have any freedoms and be happy, than have freedoms and be unhappy (like I was in the UK!)

Ok then, so what makes you all hate Dubai then? I'm intrigued to know the reasons other than it having (rightfully) harsh discipline for criminals, and migrant Indian construction workers living in poor conditions (which are in fact better than what they have in their home countries) and are treated like s##t?!

Oh and by the way, 5% of Dubai's wealth comes from oil. Abu Dhabi is the emirate which has massive oil reserves, Dubai has never had much oil!
