It's just going to cause more issues now. With all these runs offs and certain circuits, there not going to be fast enough for these new cars. The only good that's coming out of all this is that the fia will witness first hand just how stupid there rules and regulations have become over time.

People don't want to see drivers getting killed, I am all for safety but they have to approach it in a way that the danger cannot and will not be eliminated. They approach it with the mindset they have now and all we have is a safety driven sport instead of sport driven by speed and commitment. I mean no disrespect to anyone when I say that safety needs to take a step back in the best interest of the sport in general IMHO.

The problem is not safety. The problem is that the sport is often manipulated using "safety" as the excuse.

There is no better example of this than the turbo engines, banned for years for being too dangerous to then suddenly become mandatory.

Yeah but they had the perfect formula from 1990-98. 1997 IMO was f1 at its peak where engineers had the most relaxed rules and the cars where phenomenal and produce phenomenal racing. Since then the sport has been held back in one situation or another.

Well it was the last time car and team could develop without any restrictions that would have affect on the team or car.

MacLaren as an orange?

Good: Orange color improves car visibility in back mirrors when it follows others.

Bad: This is definitely not my thing, esthetically speaking. Some people have bad taste, such is life, and we have to live with it.

Good if we get more vibrant colours on the cars. I used to love the Jordan cars, they always had an awesome livery, can't stand all the dull and boring colours we get today, it only adds to the stagnant feel of the whole sport IMO.

Ferrari is traditionally (denotes decades) mostly in red, despite some short lived departures. Mercedes likes silver for over 100 years. The others - do they have actually tradition?

Williams has mostly ran a blue and white colour scheme throughout the teams life. I think in only 2 seasons in Williams existence they didn't have blue on there race cars.

I'm really curious to see the new cars in action, I'm sure that they will be better to drive and more challenging, my problem is that I fear that they will make overtaking on track even more difficult. The extra aero load will increase cornering speeds, and that's ok, but it will also create more turbolence and therefore it will be even more difficult for the car behind to close the gap and try to make a move without the DRS. Given that I find the DRS a capital sin I' can't be happy with that. Also it seems to me that the rules that we have nowdays make all the cars look more or less the same and that there are significant loopholes (the matter of self levelling suspensions is a clear example of this) together with a few blatant breaches of the regulations (I'm referring specifically to the fact that the rules on ful consumption have been broken for years, there's an interesting article in Enrico Benzing's blog regarding the readings of the fuel usage for a midfield car during the last race of the 2016 season that shows the fuel usage being negative for significant amounts of time!!! http://www.formula1benzing.eu/).

All this to say that I hope for the best but I'm not holding my breath, I think that most of the problems of the current genaration of F1 cars is too much emphasis on the aero side of things and by the looks of it 2017 will be even worse

We should be approaching 400 km/hr on some circuits. (Last year 360 + 40 gain from new cars).

wider tyres mean more resistance and therefore lower top speeds, same for the extra aero load. In turn wider tyres and higher aero load mean higher corneing speeds and therefore higher exit speeds. All this to say that I'd be surprised if the top speeds achieved in 2017 were significantly higher than last year (unless they use even more fuel than they did last year, of course)

FiA found a solution - mandated 2 stoppers this season. (Yay, yawn).

Increased speed (40 km/hr) is outcome of an analytical study implemented by FiA based on various inputs from teams. Based on the same study, all circuits are mandated to redefine several, now former, corners to straights, and rebuilt track-sides barriers accordingly. I heard this already from someone else, that cars aren't going to be as fast as people do think, but they all are in agreement, that overtaking is going to be more difficult, and race results will be known on Saturday already, while validated on Sunday. Sounds very exciting, isn't it.

Hamilton must had made a real impression on FiA last year. To make sure that he can win this time around, he needs to do well only in 18 races, and sleep in the rest of them. He can select any which he wants, and this will count towards WDC (not sure about WCC). Points will be also awarded for fastest lap of the race, yay. I thought Mercedes, fastest car on the track, already got as much help as they could take, but obviously I was wrong.

Doesn't matter if overtaking is more difficult, you got to allow the cars to follow more closely without the "aero deadzone". Won't matter if overtaking is harder if cars can follow more closely, they will find away past.

New rules - drivers will activate their DRS at will, any time, anywhere - 10 attempts per race is limit. Not sure about first lap.

That's  just stupid, just eliminate it all together and run it like the good Ol days.

Defenders of DRS are claiming that without it, procession type of races will be certainty. Speaking for myself, DRS are merely treating symptoms, and unless causes that gave birth to them are removed, taking DRS off is just a change without solving root issue in hand - lack of overtaking.

FiA meanwhile continues to choke competitiveness on fuel side as well, restricting fuel mixture counts to 5 max per season, and 2 max per an event. Good old FiA. I wonder what do they hope to actually achieve, because savings it is not, popularity it is not, so what gives..?

Ross Brawn is not a friend of DRS, however I think one has to dig deeper to understand what else needs to change, before this driver's aid can be removed of the cars.

I agree. They reckon overtaking will be even harder next year even with DRS. The fundamentals of the cars need to change else we'll have the processional races of the past which lead to DRS in the first place..
