Until they actually do it on the tracks and find out that computer simulation/prediction isn't exactly what they expect.

They can get beaten this year and I am looking forward to that.

Hamilton said they are going to have hard time,so .... they won't

What is Alonso talking about? I understand reliability concerns, power curve on demand (which is probably there, detuned at the moment for obvious reasons), but what is he on about speed? See table below.

"We have only one problem which is the power unit," added Alonso.

"There is no reliability and there is no power. We are 30 kilometres (per hour) down on the straight.

Key word is PATIENCE, and no panic in crucial moment. Honda si busy with many things while they are running marathon.

  DRIVER MAX SPEED AVERAGE SPEED

2. fi.png Räikkönen 288.7 213.1
3. gb.png Hamilton 288 209.9
4. nl.png Verstappen 286.4 211
5. es.png Alonso 286.4

205.

He is talking about top speed at the end of the straight, which about 25 km per hour down on competition.

And those 286 was with taw.

If Honda's case is not a solid evidence that more track time testing is needed during development at least a year prior moratorium and finally homologation, than I do not know what other indicators anyone needs.

Sporting reg.

35.1 Any driver eliminated during Q1 whose best qualifying lap exceeds 107% of the fastest time set during that session, or who fails to set a time, will not be allowed to take part in the race. Under exceptional circumstances however, which may include setting a suitable lap time in a free practice session, the stewards may permit the car to start the race.

__________

Will McLaren make it under 107%?

Latest - read about it today first time - Honda has vibrations on the unit. If that is true, I doubt they will have it resolved in 2 weeks.

Sounds like some sort of imbalance in the internal combustion area. That's 6 months to resolve.

Agree. Very unfortunate news. That would make this season write off.

Dont know what is going on with this quote option on mobile version of this forum. Once you press quote, there is no way of canceling it.

That is true, I was just quoting what Mclaren said that's all and as a Mclaren fan I sadly have to admit haven't we heard this before ?

The current PU overall I think is very good and I am excited about it. But, lack of actual track testing it makes it difficult. Honda has not used test mules because mainly we don’t know when to stop. That is a fault. HRD is constantly trying to make improvements until the last moment and I struggle at times with this mentality. I was this way in the ‘80’s but I have changed. There comes a point where you need to concentrate on improving what you have built rather than constantly trying to build new versions. This between you and me is Honda’s biggest weakness at this point IMO. This IMO leads to lack of testing time for each upgrade. What is better, 5,000 hours of testing on 10 different versions or 10,000 hours of testing on 5 different versions? Arai-san especially thought the former. Then when I think okay this is good enough for now, some interpret that as quitting. So in this aspect, I get frustrated. My contract ends in 30 days and I will not renew. I am done with F1 as a consultant/engineer. It’s not fun anymore.

From tech. forum, quote is from 70 years old ex Honda engineer from a racing division, I believe, Mr. Wazari. Snippet of real inside into world of Honda. Interesting, and I am thankful that someone like this man is willing to share his thoughts with us.

The man said that he is leaving tech. forum to spend time with family. He was obviously upset because someone contacted HR at Honda to obtain confirmation about him, and sounds like Honda made him aware of it. I have no opinion about it, but from random - and limited - reading of his writings, the man makes sense, whether he works here or there.

Great insight on the Mclaren woes. Learned abit on the technical side. Great stuff

EDIT: Sorry again. Meant to quote Caesar on the mobile problem. Another problem with the mobile...was quoting him, then it quoted something else

I don't have opinion on him, but i ve seen before posters with "inside" information that would only repost some rumors found on various forums.

Mainly British media (add Spanish) continue to relentlessly pound the Japanese automaker, and at this stage I would say enough is enough. Point was made many times over, now let them work. The McLaren team has on staff probably one or two overpaid people who should be dealing with it, so let them to show what are they made off, methinks. There was a lot of boasting about iconic relationship, so now respect that. The season for McLaren-Honda seems screwed for foreseeable future, we got that. Life goes on.

Press just loves this kind of situation. After one week they will calm down and then when season starts it will start again, in even larger amount.
