Webber Not Worried

Nick Heidfeld proved he was better than Webber this year and, as many people have said, Jenson effectively saved Webber

Ah the Webber and Button argument in this thread too.

The problem occurs when they are two completely different drivers.

Button is smooth whereas Webber likes to put it on the edge, Webber can get blood out of a stone when it comes to qualifying and Button is just above average for qualifying.

Webber is a racer by heart, he'll overtake and take a risk at the same time, Button won't and Webber is a much better defender - even as a Button fan I can admit that one, although Button isn't THAT bad.

Saying Nick was 2nd is a poor attempt at bullSh#tting, read Patrick Head's quotes after the race, they say Webber was better ALL yes ALL weekend and Nick got ahead just because of a pitcall.

What was interesting this year was that at the end of the year Webber beat Button on several occasions he just seemed to have the bit between the teeth, I'd say if Webber carries on like that and with a few improvements in a some areas he would beat Button. End of this season Webber was nothing but great and had some brilliant drives especially in Spa, he is going to be one motivated man next year, if Williams can give him a half decent car...he may shock a few people.

Oh boy, go back and read my post again, where did I say he was a particular good racer? Nope oh look at that one!!!

I said "Webber is a racer by heart, he'll overtake and take a risk at the same time,"

He is a racer by heart thats why he'll make the moves and take the risks, I did not, I'll repeat did not say that was a good thing. You assumed that and to be quite honest you assumed wrong, I was weighing up both good parts and bad parts of the drivers to show they do have flaws - both of them.

Mark went back in some races not in most - yes, but that is what happens when you qualify very well. Now please don't go on the Jenson defensive and assume I am writing everything in his bad light, I am a fan of his after all and don't appreciate it.

You clearly implied that Webber is a better racer. You said

Quite right Senna. Basically my opinion is that MW is a pretty good driver just that JB is better.

No its not obvious YOU assume that not me, I am a Jenson and Webber fan so there is no point me making one out to be better than the other, especially where my loyalties lie mainly with Jenson.

YES Webber is more on the edge, but hell thats a good thing? NO WAY! They are more prone to mistakes!!!!

The fact that Button won't is a good thing, but hell think what you like, assume what you like I know what I mean and if you want to be foolish and think I am anti Button go ahead.

Hell I can't even be constructive here with my critisms.

They BOTH have flaws, neither is perfect. I don't think taking risks when overtaking is a good thing, but its entertaining and thats why I like Mark, at the moment Button is the better driver to get results and Webber is the entertainer.

It is often the case that Webber goes backwards in races.

This often happens when you put a car higher in qualifying then it deserves.

That is true. Look what happens to Trulli every race when he qualifies well.

Exactly right Senna. It is overall performance that matters anyway and Nick wasn't exactly overshadowed this year on that score.

I have a feeling that Cosworth will have the BEST engine on the grid. Dont get my to explain why, i just know it in my gut.

I have a feeling that Cosworth will not have the best engine on the grid. Their supposed beneficial effect of their V8 experience is highly over-rated IMO.

I find your hatred of Mark Webber disturbing. Mark Webber has proven on many occasions that he has real talent. He scored good points with Minardi (even thought they had the worst car) and he scored points with Jaguar which was really slow as well. Even this year, Williams havent had a very competitive car and i believe that if he is given a half decent car then he will do well.

I don

Concise but compelling. I look forward to hearing any argument to the contrary that does not focus on his qualifying form which is rather abstract to the question of how capable a racer he is.

Webber goes backward faster than a crook leaving the scene of the crime.

You might want to see my post where Webber has scored 17 more points in his first 4 years, depite worse cars for 75% of it....
interesting! Look, I'll just settle the argument here and now, both Webber AND Button suck, OK! ;)

To those talking about Webber going backwards in races.... lets see recent form....

Japan:

Grid: i believe was 5th?

Race: 4th

China:

Grid: 10th

Race: 7th

Backwards you say?

Button has gone backwards... i think 3rd to 5th, and 4th to 8th or something like this..... Oh, but Button is a future WDC....

Atleast try and be fair, even if you hate someone....

OK i didnt count DNF's or DSQ's in this.

Button went backwards in 7 out of 12 races. So he went backwards in 58% of races.

Webber went backwards in 4 out of 13 races. So he went backwards in 31% of races.

Im not saying that Webber is better than Button. In reality i think they are very simular in ability, after all Webber scored 36 points and Button scored 37. I suppose it comes down to what car do you think was better, the williams or BAR.
