Boring Spanish GP

Recommended Posts

Apart for Kimi blinding start nothing much else happened during the GP. Motor racing should be about overtaking and in F1 overtaking continues to take place in the pits?????? Despite innumerable rules change nothing.....changed that much. As for the next GP in Monaco, it might look glamorous but as overtaking is virtually impossible..... :eusa_think:

You weren't sitting on the edge of your seat hoping for Alonso's engine to let go like me then? Seriously though, the relative boredom of the race was compensated by Alonso's devastating and faultless pace. A well deserved victory.

Tell that to mad max....he's the one destroying F1 with its stupid rules.....If we could somehow delete two week engine rule you would see much more overtaking!

My guess is that whole season will be like that ( overtaking in the pits )...

They should erase two week engine rule and refuling as well!!

That would bring the old days back in and Mr. Brown strategy would be gone!!!

Sorry Urko but that's rubbish. I don't like the two race rule either but we had a problem with overtaking (or the lack of) long before this season. The characteristics of the Catalunya track are to blame. Because each straight is preceeded by an aero dependant fast corner, getting close enough to another car before a straight is nigh on impossible.

Not only that, Michael would have gone into preservation mode regardless of the engine rules, history shows us that. More to blame in my opinion is the lack of incentive to net maximum points because the gap between first and second is too small. Now that Ferrari dominance is over, we should re introduce the gap of 4 points.

To suggest that Max is to blame is naive and stupid.

all they need to do is make the cars harder to drive (ie, aerodynamically restrict them much more than now) and stick some slicks on.

I say ban traction control, that way Jenson would win everything as he is th only driver who barely needs it now :D

I was really upset on sunday because the honda people decided to shoot the commercial starting@ 6 am on race day. It turns out, after reviewing the race, that my day spent pushing the BAR 01' and sitting in Jacques' seat was far more exciting than looking at a train go round and round. The alonso win was exciting for the fans though. That was good!

i dont think those kinds of wins are even exiting for the fans, yes you are happy that your guy won, but in the end there was no competition, atleast thats who i felt when MS was always wining and the other teams couldnt muster a challenge

What are you on about now? JB turns in smoothly i grant you but he still needs to lean on the TC as hard as the next man.

Most of us have grown to accept the lack of overtaking and still love F1. Of course there was competition; just because Fernando and Michael weren't banging wheels doesn't mean they weren't responding to each other. I thought FA's win was mesmerising.

That is not true, Jenson is the driver who needs TC less than any other and according to most EXPERTS he is the one driver who could be just as quick without TC! Im only going by what experts have said in the past!

Judging by his telemetry, he has a very smooth throttle. This, however, doesn't mean he would be 'just as quick' without TC. Remember Jean Alesi in his last year? He refused to race with most of the 'gizmos' and he suffered for it.

Also, racing is littered with smooth-throttle and hard-throttle drivers going bloody quick without TC. Granted, TC helps on turn exit, but without it, the fast drivers would still be fast. All removing TC would accomplish would be to increase the chance of a driver error on exit, leading to more overtaking opportunities.
