What If A Real F1 Driver Sneaks In Totalf1 Forums?

Our Government back in the 1770's had a vote for official language, English nipped German by 1 vote!!!

Interesting. I didn't know that. Maybe one of the most important votes in history. Surely most Americans at that time would have spoken English anyway, followed by French or Spanish?

You definately made the right choice

Lets see, 2-0 on wars, and the best military on the planet.

I hope you're joking. USA's foreign policy down the years is the reason why its hated all over the world. Thanks to Bush you come across as a nation of immature warmongers who kid yourselves that you're fighting for america's freedom - the sad thing is, it seems your population actually believes that crap. And as for the world wars, try not to turn up late for the next one please, for once!

What about France with the Food for oil or votes scandal?

Tell me this, if Buckingham palace was blown up, as well as the tower of London and Westminster Abbey, and Parliament to boot, would you want to punish those who did it?

I still remember what happened on 9-11. Apparently you forgot that people were in the streets celebrating what had happened. Now you're telling me what we fight for is false?

Try not to turn up late, pah, how many men from Britain died fighting the Japanese? We already had the Destroyers for Bases program, and we sent over American ships to convoy your ships, at their own damn risk! We also had lend-lease going on.

I think what George Carlin said was right. Some people are really ****ing stupid.

Actually the Uk has the best trained Army in the world, we also have the best trained navy, and one of the best trained air forces. The only issue we have is that our armed forces are small by comparison to the US, but that doesnt stop us from having the Best armed forces.

Britain has almost always had the best navy in the world. That's an accomplishment.

I do thank Reagan for updating our military to what it is in the present day.

i thought britain supported the US all the way in the recent wars ...

no one forgets 9-11 ... and not many would disagree with the war in afghanistan.... but the one in iraq ... tht was so wrong... while moraly it might have been the right thing to do (to get rid of sadam) nonetheless iraq was a soverign country and with US and Britain defying the UN and goin for war there... well its just wrong... ppl do not hate the US.... but if they keep declaring war on countries without the UN approval then whts the use of the UN ... u might as well abolish the UN and get US and Britain to police the world ..dictator style without democracy..

dun misunderstand im not against the US for they are doing... only feel tht problems should be solved diplomatically and war should not be an option but rather a last resort........

Kuwait was a soverign country.

The UN passed 18 resolutions. Saddam kept doing what he was doing, thumbing his nose at them. Nothing happened. The UN had no power.

 Certainly before Bush, and probably still in some respects, US foreign policy was disgraceful. You supported and even armed Saddam. You turned a blind eye to his use of WMD on his own people. You trained, funded and armed Al-Qaeda. The only thing is we supported you then too.

I am sure there are F1 personel here on the site, it is one of the best if not THE best forum out there and there have been many references to it on other sites.

I think they would love the passion everyone has for their drivers and teams and laugh at some of the comments made to defend and/or trash their point of views.

An even bigger laugh to see how far off base other threads (like this one) get after one comment... It started with a comment about the English language and sailed over the wall into the parking lot...

IMHO

As far as this part of the thread, the UN is useless. They have become as corrupt as most governments and have more secrecy than the Priory of Sion folks in the Da Vinci code :naughty:

They are all bark with no bite, every time they try to do something one country or another throws in a veto and nothing happens. Sadam did nothing but thumb his nose at the UN for year after year and the UN did squat. He toyed with them until he could get rid of the WMD and now everyone says we are wrong. Personally, I think we are there now because his Dad screwed up with the first gulf war. We should have finished the job then when we had full support of the world. The first Bush blew it and now his son is trying to clean it up. But now that we are there, we cannot leave until the new government is in place and stable.

I agree with part of what you say AMJAY, we went to Iraq for the right reasons, just the wrong time.

The UN might do a good job getting food to starving nations but protecting countries, never happened and never will. That will always be up to the powerful nations with or without the UN.

This is getting juicy.

You got that right.

Lend/lease cost the British Government Millions

May Dad was in the RAF. After the Battle for Britian he was shipped out east to North Africa and then Ceylon. Many in the Commonwealth died fighting the Japanese long before the Americans waded in. Ask the Chineese where the US was in 1937.

I suggest you research military conflict in the two world wars, and note the time line before shooting from the hip.

The world opinion on the revelence of Iraq to what happened 9-11 is different then your government wants you to believe. I know for a fact that the US is very divided on it themselves. 50% of the American population themselves doubt the purpose of the war in Iraq. Trouble with terrorists it makes no difference how large your military forces are. There simply is no one country to channel all that miliary power too. Saddam was a bad man, and Iraq was an identifiable place. It feels good to flex military muscle, but did little to fight the real cause. If anything it just created thousands more of potential terrorists.

The Taliban harbored in Afghanastan is were all the focus should have been. America has many allies in that struggle. Iraq was a totally different agenda. One that most of the rest of the world did not agree with.

As an American ally I support the action of what the troops are trying to do, but totally disagree that it has anything to do with terrorism. Saddam was a bad actor. Trouble is , he was created by the foriegn policy of the US in its fight against Iran. The truth is, Iraq is almost ungovernable, because of all the waring factions. As bad as Saddam was, at least he half assed kept Iraq controlled. Some have even argued that it takes that kind of brutality to keep civil order in Iraq.

Lend/Lease still got you the materials to help defeat Hitler's charge upon yall.

In war, money is no object.

I know for a fact that the US is divided too, hell I live here.

Let me ask this: If we hadn't been attacked, why would we have gone to war against the Japanese?

And in the Iraq/Iran war, remember why we did support Saddam: Iran had taken some of our embassy workers hostage. We weren't going to support hostage takers, now were we? He is on trial right now, and many haven't seen pictures of the mass graves that were found, many dont know of the torture and rape chambers either. And the UN has claimed that women were better under Saddam? I question their sanity.

**** the UN. They don't have any power.

Canada wasn't attacked but it was Britains ally from the begining of the conflict. I suggest the US could have entered the war earlier and supplied the ships and material needed to defeat a common enemy instead of renting ships and lending them with a condition of payment. The US made money off the war for a couple of years. You asked the question about how many Britons died in the fighting the Japaneese. The correct answer is a lot, and years before the US made Japan their enemy.

And in the Iraq/Iran war, remember why we did support Saddam:

I don't know you tell me. Why did their politics and struggles have anything to do with the US?

Regarding Iraq

It was much more then hostages. The US was an Iraqi ally through the conflict between Iraq and Iran for all those years. When you read up about that conflict you can understand how the US built its own problem with respect to Saddam. They set him up to be the dictator he was. It is all pretty ironic, and head shaking in hindsight. Most of the "alleged"terrorist training camps, were actually built with US $$ to train Iraq troops to fight the Iranians. Do you realize that it was the American intervention in Muslim politics that created the environment that lead to the making of Osama Bin Laden.

This information is all available. If I am telling you something you haven't heard before I suggest you look into it. Then you too can shake your head with the rest of us!!!.

This is a deep , sensitive issue that is surrounded by a whole bunch of grey and not very much black and white. We like to live in a black and white world. We throw opinions around based on issues that we want to be black and white. Right vs wrong is such an easy concept. The truth though is very much harder to understand, but we owe to ourselves to do the best we can to understand the facts that have brought about the world we live in today.

It really is a tangled web we weave. The makings of the second world war were written at the conclusion of the first. The victors created a problem in Germany that allowed Hitler to sway the populus the way he did.

After the second world war we kicked out the Palistinians and gave the territory to the Isreali's. The more we try to fix things the worst they become!!!!!!!!

And if we didnt have troops in Saudi Arabia, oil prices would go even higher than they are.

We had the 18th biggest army. We hadn't built up our military because we were trying to get out of a depression. If I can get a picture at the D-Day museum in New Orleans, I'll show you why we couldn't enter the war in 1939.

Did you know Stalin didn't declare war on the Japanese till August 1945?

Yeah I'll look him up. Btw do you agree that this thread shows that some Americans are rather easily misled? I find this the most annoying thing about America. Why are such simplistic views so widespread? Saddam bad --> bomb Iraq.

Btw I bet my money and reputation on the fact that history will judge that the Iraq war was possibly the right strategy but was bungled first and foremost by Rumsfeld. Its increasingly clear he ignored sound advice from the army for political purposes.

Actually get a few of his books or articles if you can. If you google him, you'll get alot of nutcases commenting on him. Sutton's theories are sound and form the basis for alot of warped conspiracy theories. Better to get your information straight from his work.

I hate to spoil a good argument, but the Brits and Americans other than some remote skirmishes in the China/Burmese theater entered the war at the same time against the Japanese after Dec. 7,1941 as the Japanese made attacks on U.S territories(Hawaii was not yet a state)and British colonies etc.

the USA supplied much of the needed war material (and food) to the British in the early war years ('39-'41) so that the British could build the weapons they needed, probably one of the biggest US contributions to this early part of the war was the 'lending' of our mothballed fleet of '4 stackers' destroyers that the British so needed to fight the early u-boat war and to get the supplies that they needed so badly from both Canada and the US.

Don't even think of rebutting this post, i've been a WWII buff since I could read and a history buff in general all my life...........

The USA people demanded that the US stay out of the wars of both WWI and II till attacks were made upon us or our people, but FDR and Churchill went around that to supply our mother country with the goods that were needed as WWII started, many think besides Hittler's dumb invasion of Russia his biggest mistake was to declare war upon the US after Pearl Harbour, the giant was kicked in the shins and no other Country could match our industrial output once in gear.

If you look at the time lines of WWII you'll see one the decisions were made to take the fight to the enemy (that is once the resources were there to fight) the war ended in a rather quick fashion.

End of story, now back to the topic at hand please (oh and don't make me go into the wars/conflicts since WWII, as I'll get carple tunnel syndrome) :D
