Hamilton Finally In F1

Recommended Posts

You know I almost feel sorry for those people that drive econo boxes with their 1. something litre motors and think that they are the $hit, because if you ever got them in a real car with 300hp and 320ft. lbs. of torque they would cry for their mama :lol::lol:

Typical American - I drive a diesel MPV with 7 seats which is very economical thank you.....but I'll still leave you & your mustang for dead on the twisty bits as you call them !! :D

The evidence is here :-

I was caught out by a 10 mph hairpin

10mph hairpin!!! 10mph hairpin!! I drive into my garage faster than that backwards and I have to fold the mirrors in to get it fit!!! :D:D

Big call Cav, it will all depend on how quickly KR can establish himself.

Me too...

Kimi has never beaten his teammate in his first year in a team, and I rate Massa above Heidfeld and DC right now.

Good point. However I think that KR has matured over the last two years, this should hold him in good stead to compete with FM from round 1. Winter testing will tell us a little about how KR is coping with his new surroundings at Ferrari.

Well in 2001 he was a rookie, and in 2002 it was his first year with mclaren and DC was at his peak, driving better than other (shown by his amazing monaco win). I'm very confident that kimi will have the upper hand on Massa. In response to someone else's post about massa beating schuey, I would say the situations are different, and Massa beating Schuey (only actually happened once, in malaysia) isnt so much of a headline as Hamilton beating Alonso!

DC's peak was probably 2001, he's always gone well at Monaco.

Twice actually, you forget Turkey :)

I am going to sound weird to most i guess, but i think Hamilton is overhyped even by members of this forums. He might be a big thing, but for time being it is way too early to say so. Also year 2008 can change a lot in the balance of power (Renault going to be hurt most of top team i bet). He certainly got right manufacturer support for that altough.

Not overhyped, there just seems to be alot expected of him. Everybody is looking to see him in action in F1, the boy's got talent...

A fine day, Brad, we AGREE!!! :clap3:

As for the over-hyping of Hamilton, I will say that if I were on this forum in '03, you all would have thrown insults at me for voicing my certainty that Alonso would be the next Champion after M$. Quite a few racing friends of mine take me more seriously now.....when I spot Hamilton as a massive talent, I'm just as sure of that as I was of Alonso's WDC. That's not arrogance, btw, that's certainty.

Me too...

Why the hell did you expect me to support this complete ****. I hate his guts and low and behold he was beaten by piquet AGAIN in testing by a significant margin.

I dont doubt Hamilton could be a world champ, but hes a prick and i hate him already. II hope alonso beats the Sh#t out of him next year if they end up as teamates and due to him having an embarressingly bad first season he gets dropped. Oh how i wish that dream will come true!

After seeing the way Lewis has driven in GP2 this year, I can't wait to see him in F1 :clap3: . Its still going to be a tough decision for Maclaren to make. I don't subscribe to the belief that drivers have to do a year of testing before being ready to race in F1 but Lewis clearly needs to get some testing miles under his belt, though not necessarily a whole year's worth IMO.

It also hasn't escaped my notice that there would be a bit of irony if Lewis did get the 2007 race seat with Mclaren. Jenson Button once turned down an offer from Maclaren to join their young driver programme. He didn't have enough belief that it would eventually lead to an F1 drive.

I agree he should be in F1, but he's riding the wave of hype - I hope he doesn't come crashing down with a bad car and drive in F1. They have a programme on about Lewis, I mean he's not even in F1 yet and already this much hype? Perhaps after he has an F1 drive signed and sealed...

For one reason only. He is British. That's all.

I think we all now fully understand your feelings towards LH. :D

I still think he should have a training year in a team like midland!

Agree, a season with a team in the midfield will help him get all the rookie errors out of his system and give him a chance to learn all of the tracks. This will then put him in good shape to partner FA at McLaren in

2008.

I have no doubt that RD will not throw him in the deep end. He sounds like he has too much riding on him.

Hrrrmm. I'm indifferent to Lewis Hamilton but your enthusiasm for hating him is strangely compelling. Give me a good reason and I may join the bandwagon :eusa_think:

Hes a prick!

If thats not a good reason then i dont know what is

I haven't seen enough yet to make that determination but the odds are he is a prick, most of these drivers are. It comes from being spoon-fed all the best equipment, opportunities and support throughout your life - without this it's almost impossible to make it to F1... The funny thing is that I have heard young Hamilton actually had quite a tough time getting the funds together to pursue his racing career and probably wouldn't have made it were it not for the McLaren Junior Programme. Maybe he's not a spoiled prick afterall? Perhaps Mike will fill in the details as he seems to be the resident expert on matters Hamilton.

I am the annointed prophet. I will pray to Hamilton and get you an answer to the question: 'Is Hamilton a spoiled prick?'

Stay tuned.

oh by the way, British members tune in to ITV 1.45pm tomorrow - there's a documentary on Hamilton and his recent rise to stardom. Ben, I think you should watch it so that you can get an idea of what he's actually like before slagging him off so much

Or, possibly you could watch it and realise what an arse you're being! At least watch it so that you can form some kind of judgement on him rather than slating him for no reason!
