Michael Schumacher is still very much in close contact with the Ferrari F1 team, test driver Luca Badoer has revealed. Even though the seven-time world champion is taking a break before returning to the Ferrari team in some kind of advisory role, it seems the German is finding it difficult to let go.

"I am in continual contact with Schumi," Badoer told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"And he is constantly updated on what we are doing because he gets instantly, on his computer, the data information that we collect.

"He can see the telemetry, whenever he wants. So from that perspective, not much has changed. We should just say that he's not directly involved because officially he's still resting," added the Italian.

It must be hard to let go. Some people can go cold turkey but i suspect that Michael has decided to let go gently. This will make his retirement easier and more pleasurable as he starts to fill his life with other activities. Not only that, if he is to stay with the team in another capacity, keeping his finger on the pulse is a shrewd move, it means his opinions will count.

Strange that he still has access to their testing data, I mean I know schumi and ferrari are in love but i would've thought a frontrunning f1 team would keep its data super-top secret from everyone, cant take any risks!

I think this puts more weight on the argument he was forced out of a drive by Montazamele. He is still clearly very enamored by the thrill of racing and wants to know the most he can about whats going on in the house he built. I don't think if he had made up his mind all by himself he would not even take a look back.

Hmm, not so sure. Don't forget Michael had a huge two way respect with his mechanics, nothing to do with Luca.

True i guess, but i personally feel he would be a little bit less engriciating in general. Still it makes no difference as whatever way you look at it, it is highly unlikely that he was forced out. He admitted he had lost motivation for participating in the hellish testing schedules and thats fair enough IMO. After what he has achieved with Ferrari i think its equally non-sensical to even think they would want him out of the team, as i still feel he would have had plenty in him if he wanted to give it.

I think what this all means is that every time Shu takes his Ferrari supplied car out for a spin on the autobahn, some one passes him, and this ticks him off so much that he keeps calling the factory to complain and to remind them of the clause in his contract the expressly states - no one shall pass Micheal. He just keeps forgeting that his cointract does not matter any more!

I think he will remain in some form, but not in such a high level, its the punishing test schedule he retired for, not racing itself he still enjoyed racing

Hey, The Who are quite alive and kicking (well, except for Keith Moon and John Entwistle). In fact, they will perform here in Buenos Aires next January, I think. (I am a big fan of them, but I'm not sure I want to see them nowadays on a stage)
