Recommended Posts

I thought it would be interesting to see who is your favourite Leader (eg Prime Minister, President, Fuhrer, Emperor, Dictator etc) for your country and why are they your favourite leader?

I have 2 favourite Prime Ministers

Winston Churchill would get my vote too. His attitude in WW2 and inspirational speeches really boosted morale in Britain in a time when we were under serious threat of being taken over

:yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes:

Couldn't resist!

It's hard to find a leader you like; much easier to dislike them especially because in their job description it states liar...

Churchill

Mine's Hitler then, on the list of racist imperialist mass murderers, Hitler probably outranks him. Only just though.

I have always ben impressed by what Mustafa Kemal Ataturk accomplished. We could do with leaders like him today.

This is one of Mustafa Keral Ataturk's most famous quotes

"I don't order you to attack, I order you to die. In the time it takes us to die, other troops and commanders can come and take our places."

Personally he isnt a Colonel i would want on the front lines with me though he did seem like a reasonably leader for Turkey.

I would have thought you would have preferred this rather appropriate one:

Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives

Your right that is a much better quote. Thousands died at Gallipoli and its important to honour the people on both sides who sacrificed their lives for their country because as you said there was no good and evil sides like their was in the 2nd World War.

I think in India, Indira Gandhi could be called one of the best leaders....If someone disagrees, then who would it be...

Grest choice, the lady who chose to suspend democracy because she was about to lose an election.

Well she handled the war with Pak quite well, no leader is perfect... Plus she (i think not too sure) gave us our first and only budget surplus...

And as i said if you critize give me another person...

That is what the time demanded, and remember, the first world war wasn't really a good vs evil war.

It was, as a matter of fact, an evil vs evil war. Never a war was conducted with such incompetence from both sides.

I admire his work as a social reformer, it is possibly the hardest thing to accomplish as a leader.

Indeed. I am not fond of any leaders as most of them (no matter how good or bad are they) become willingly or unwillingly part of a cult of personality and tend to create paternalistic regimes. But amongst all them, Kemal was certainly one of the best.
