Music connects people through the unspoken appreciation of something that sounds right. Something that taps into the deepest corners of your soul, making you feel alive. When someone else gets it too and you know they do, it feels beautiful.

In fact, let's make this thread into the 'thread resurrecton thread".
So come on, old timers, what threads do you remember from the days of yesteryear? I tried to find the 'I am The Best' thread which someone mentioned the other day, but the new 'search' functionality doesn't seem to be up to much.

I don't know the exact number of posts I have but the last time I checked I was above 9,000! Scary stuff. I recall when I first joined the forum. Being a regular in a forum was a new experience for me (I've been lurking around a couple, non-F1 related and joined a few to make specific questions about porn...ermmm...about how to avoid it, of course...ermmm...nevermind
I've been around since 2006 and as most old guys know there have been many different stages in these venerable forums. My favorite was I guess sometime around 2007 with the few usual suspects that are still around plus good old Bruce, Mike, John, Ykick, Edu, Muzza, Ankit, Cav, Ben, the Ozzie twins (Jez and Nathan) and many others. At the time, the forum was the pinnacle of surrealism, at times!
The infamous "Ykick" virus face thread was an all time high. It surprised me because everybody instantly got the idea and it was exhilarating.
One tradition this forum has maintained always was the sense of friendship above the mere need to discuss F1 relateed stuff. We are not just "that McLaren fan". That helps to make more interesting posts than "haters will be haters", "alonso is faster than you" and "not bad for a number 2 driver" every two posts
I recall the wars with Cav (yeah, whenever he got involved chaos surely ensued, he had this talent to somehow make everybody mad at him and then mad at each other). I recall the origin of the "spec rear wing" joke as well, again, it is good when we all get the joke instantly and everybody joins the fun.
Even after all this years and feeling like an old guy with more memories than present in the forum, and feeling like leaving this place many times as well, I somehow find myself coming back again and again and again.
Mike described this right when he compared this with the pub from "Cheers".
Somebody shoot me before I reach 10,000 posts!

We tried to shoot you before you got to 10 posts
I liked the ykick virus, that was pretty good. I miss ykick actually, would be nice to see him around again.
I think one of my favourite moments (and I am pretty vague on the details now) but somebody had posted some fairly revealing pix and Cav had opened them, not knowing what they were, while in an airport, I think it was. Good stuff.

It was great when you could search from your very 1st post in your profile. It was fun reading some past arguments. Now it's gone but from time to time I manage to find an old thread on Google.
Guns, creationism vs evolutionism, global warming, religion, semen jokes, porn, music, guitarists... And of course F1. Best moments I remember laughing so hard it was painful or it was something deep that made my eyes wet.

I think I remember the ykick virus but I don't remember being part of it? I was probably lurking when that happened! The "Cheers" analogy is well observed and definitely this place's strength. I suppose the reason for that is probably just the amount of posters, once you get a certain amount it's no longer the conversational style of posting and you lose the personal aspect. In that respect, I'm glad this place isn't too well known

"Vettel is a champion. That’s not referring to his achievements, but rather to his approach to everything he does. He wins. All the time. His preparation is meticulous, his attention to detail reminiscent of Michael Schumacher at his peak, and his performance on the track is almost always flawless. Vettel is capable only of domination. He knows no other way... Vettel is not in Formula One to be liked. He is there to win. And in the words of Ayrton Senna, perhaps the greatest of all Formula One drivers, “Nice men don’t win.”"

I do quite enjoy green tea. I drink it 3 or 4 times a day, and those are the only times I feel civilized. I sure hope it does all the good it's supposed to.
What about you, sir? What do you prefer?
