Monaco

Grosjean has always been up there with Kimi, first two races notwithstanding, so the thing I'm most afraid of is exactly what James says. After all, isn't it the car nowadays the biggest factor? That "ability to win" may count for less than we think XD

When you phrase it like that, you make it sound like Grosjean's a complete no-hoper. :P

Guy has a good record at Monaco in GP2. Carved his way through the field last year from the back of the pack to finish in the top five if my memory serves me correctly.

As he says himself, he wasn't ready when the chance came in 2009 - but this year so far, despite a couple of errors, he has been consistently on Kimi's place most the time and does it without a lot of fanfare. For a guy who hasn't anywhere near the experience of mighty Raikkonen, I find that impressive.

I'd be really surprised if he hasn't won a race by the end of the year.

It's all my fault for not watching last season, and missing the last couple of races (major issues, couldn't be helped XD). Even so, he can't be bad if he finishes right behind Kimi, that's my point. Someone else mentioned "ability to win", and I think it's quite ambiguous at best, so I was trying to say that too. Anything can happen in the races, and Romain might get the first win for Lotus, just saying it's not unlikely. Of course Monaco usually isn't for rookies, but I was talking in general XD

That said, Kimi will win in Monaco :P

In the context of his red car, that helmet will really pop and look awesome. Someone will have to post a picture for me. :P

If I were a driver my helmet would be blue with fifty whtie stars on it and it would never change and if you try to put a sponsor logo on it I'll quit and come back a few weeks later with a new name. Or something.

George & Sean, great that you guys will be at Monaco. Please post snaps, especially of naked women on yachts.

I took this one when I met a friend for lunch today. My 'loaner' is on the left! I am crap with the iPhone. I'll do my best though.

Latest weather predictions. Packed an umbrella George and Sean?

Thursday morning will begin dry with plenty of morning sunshine for first practice, but just as today, some patches of cloud may develop during the afternoon. However, this should not amount to much and the second session should conclude with mainly sunny skies overhead. A light, variable breeze will continue through much of the day, with air temperature climbing to a maximum of 22 Celsius.

Again, there is a slight risk of a thundery shower towards evening, but as far as the track action is concerned a dry, warm and sunny practice day lies in wait.

Looking ahead to the weekend briefly and the shower threat is still forecast to increase significantly on Saturday and a potentially wet qualifying hour, while on Sunday the risk of rain remains difficult to call precisely but is still leaning towards a mainly dry race.

Two 90-minute sessions beckon tomorrow and it will be nice to see the cars pounding round the Monte Carlo streets once again. No forecast blog tomorrow after practice. Instead, there will be a lengthy post on Friday afternoon with the latest predictions and the potential for showers through Saturday and Sunday.

Thanks for that Eric. Turns out it is pretty identical copy of Alesi's F1 helmet. No idea what design Alesi is using right now, whether it is the same or not.

Anyway, first practice session starts tomorrow 9am British time...can't wait!

I'd love to join you guys for this one...I know some people love that Monaco, Indy, and Charlotte are on the same day but I have always absolutely hated it and thought the world was a better place when Turkey and Indy were sharing a day because I couldn't care less about missing Istabul. tongue.png

That's what DVRs are for - watching it at another time. tongue.png

Understand what you mean. I'll probably give the NASCAR a miss on the basis the last few races haven't been great and just watch Monaco and Indy.

And that's the only time NASCAR will ever get a mention in this subforum! tongue.png

Not a huge Hamilton fan - but he made a great comment about Monaco today:

You can never understand what it’s like to drive around here. It’s a roller coaster, a hard core roller coaster and no other roller coasters in the world comes close to it. It’s insane.

There's somewhat of a heatwave where I am in the UK at the moment, so if when I arrive in Monaco it's chucking it down I won't be impressed. In fact I will cancel the race.

@Jay, I'm on it.
