but the real reason for Mclaren and Mercedes tense relationship has nothing to do with German drivers, but simply because they have not been able to come out with good road cars together..The SLR didn't turn out to be like they expected.

Like Mclaren has revealed their own supercar, powered by their own engines, while Mercedes have launched their new SLS with their performance division AMG. (I don't know if there will be an Mecedes SLS AMG AMG version though:D)

Sorry to disagree (finally!) but it makes perfect sense, with the evidence we have. Just look at his hair! It is not more a Ferrari hairdo, but a McLaren's.

And McLaren is talking a much safer route than Renault as now they will have two brilliant, highly trained drivers who do not need to be instructed on how and when to crash...

As I mooted some time ago, SF have now made it clear that they want rid of the erratic Raikkonen and Haug wants Rosberg in a Merc-engined car. Brawn will not wish to become entangled in Kimi's machinations over salary settlements with his erstwhile employer and Haug will be happy to see the German-born and domiciled Rosberg head for BGP. However, it begs the question: he may be younger but is he in the same class as Barrichello? Currently, I believe he is not. JB says he is happy at the team but do they have the wonga to keep him? Could Jenson find himself at Ferrari or elsewhere with Rubens retained and Rosberg hired in support? If KR does indeed have an outline agreement with McBenz for 2010 and the Scuderia cough up the lolly, what of Alonso? He has been summoned to appear before the WMSC tomorrow, a move he believed was 'surprising' but one I considered to be inevitable. You will not convince me that Nando had no knowledge whatsoever of the "Crashgate' fix. I find it completely implausible. There have been those here who have virtually condoned Renault F1's horrific behaviour as par for the course in modern F1. Shame on you - you clearly do not love this sport. I digress though and Nando will learn his fate anon. One single ounce of complicity, if proven, should see him banned for a very long time. It would be a tragedy for his fans. Ferrari will have reckoned with that possibility as their recent lukewarm comments about the Spaniard have confirmed. Also, there is absolutely no hard evidence that young Massa will in fact, race again though I am sure we all hope he does. I'd certainly be in contact with Jens if I were LdM and be asking Peter Sauber to grab Luizzi at all costs if he manages to get the new team on to the grid. It seems as if it was only a few weeks ago the (future) driver market was breathlessly awaiting the word from Alonso/Ferrari before everything and - everyone - else fell into place. While that particular question still hangs in the balance now the decisions instead seem to revolve around the soured alliance between McLaren and Mercedes. Two months ago Rosberg to McLaren made as much sense as anything else for the 2010 season; now Rosberg to Brawn and Kimi to McLaren appears much more likely. And Ferrari, who seemed to be in the catbird seat with a plethora of driver combinations, may be looking at a weaker line-up than anyone would have thought. It continues to be a strange and somewhat unpredictable year though one overshadowed mostly by dark storm clouds.

He's going to NASCAR. He'll be the lead driver for Hyundai's new effort. Nigel Stepney will be his crew chief and the car will use unicorn urine for fuel. Now you know.

Honestly, Nico's either going to Brawn or Macca. I'm thinking the latter, though everyone else says the former.

I'm really hoping Qadbak Sauber get to race. I'd love to see what Adam Carroll or Mirko Bortolotti could do in Formula 1 (I'm fairly confident they'll be a Ferrari B-for-B**** squad, so it would make sense that they'd use one or both of those drivers). Scuderia Ferrari did say that Giancarlo Fisichella may race for another team in addition to his duties as test driver. Perhaps he'll partner a youngin at QS. It might possibly maybe kind of sort of be nice to have a team that didn't run on Cossies or Mercs.

Bob Bell will be, at least temporarily, the new Renault Team Manager. I always liked Bob, sounds like a nice guy and he certainly seems like a great techincal person. Ermmm...that's it. I have no idea how will he perform a Team Director and my knowledge of the intrincacies and personalities of people in F1 is not enough to make any judgemental comment...good luck to him, though. (Of course, I always respected Pat and seems I was horribly wrong)

David Richards has told me to tell you he won't be posting around here much. He's absolutely shattered by his rejection as Renault team boss. Don't worry, though. He'll recover. He's planning on partnering with a certain Master of Inclement Weather to form Raindrive Promasters, a new F1 team powered by Buick and sponsored by an unnamed company specializing in deep-fried, cheese-covered foods of various types. They have a prototype for their chassis, you can see it here. But keep that a secret for now. Dave wouldn't want that information to get into the wrong hands.

To keep this post somewhat on topic, today in F1, US F1 and Campos joined FOTA. Manor are looking to join, too. I'm confused.

Williamshas confirmed that it plans to use a Kinetic Energy Recovery System onnext year's car, despite the commitment of rival teams to jettison thetechnology.

The members of the Formula One Teams' Association agreed earlierthis year to abandon KERS for 2010 in order to reduce costs, just oneyear after the regenerative energy devices were introduced in the sport.

Williams was not party to the pact since at that time it had beensuspended from FOTA and recently vetoed an attempt to have KERS removedfrom the 2010 regulations.

KERS seems to be a good tech development not only for F1 but for the entire industry. I agree KERs should be used at will during the race since it has the inherit limitation of the stored energy. So every driver can use it as many times as charge-use-recharge cycle is complete.
