Instead, many could find alternative work for the McLaren automotive division" Now, there is set to be an imminent announcement from McLaren (possibly buying Brawn) - putting 2 and 2 together (to make 5, no doubt....) does this sound like the two items are linked? It's a great move if true and perhaps the reason Rosberg appears to be dithering about a Macca seat. The word is, Haug wants him in a Merc-engined car. German magazine, Blick are purporting that Nico Rosberg will switch to Brawn Mercedes next season. I came to this conclusion earlier today but we shall have to wait and see. Blick staff writer, Roger Benoit, [a highly respected journalist, especially by me], claims Mercedes will allow its contract with McLaren to expire come 2011, at which point they will apparently own 75% of Brawn GP. The article stated the buy out is to be funded in partnership with an Arab consortium. As a precursor, the BGP002 will feature prominent Mercedes branding in 2010. The claims concerning Nico Rosberg would leave Barrichello's without a seat, unless he heads of to USF1. He is still a No. 1 driver package. If so, McLaren could do worse than signing the Brazilian or having Kimi back to keep Hamilton honest. Nick Fry has said he is happy to keep Rubens on but his comments are usually wide of the mark. Nico said only last week that he had now focused on a single choice despite multiple offers elsewhere. Mercedes's motorsport czar, Nobby Haug said yesterday, 'Nico is an option - he is a candidate'. He's done so well, but he's done it so unimpressively, at least in my mind. He's obviously very good, it's just less obvious than someone like Vettel who always put in such jaw-dropping drives at Toro Rosso, I suppose. I can't see Kimi at McLaren, playing bitch to Lewis. Then again, he's kind of been doing that for Massa, so who knows. I can't say I'm excited about Red Bull Mercedes or anything like that. It's just not right that there are 13 teams and two engine suppliers may make up more than half of them with Merc and Cossie at 4 each. That's too Champ Car-ish for the pinnacle of motorsport. Persevere 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 Yes, the Mercedes-Brawn talk has heated up considerably in the last 24 hours putting a spin on the future of McLaren-Mercedes and the 2010 destination of one Nico Rosberg. Kimi returning to McLaren next year doesn't make a lot of sense, not that logic always plays much of a role in such decisions. Kimi has been mentioned for the first time by LdM after long long time. LdM managed to talk about Spa victory without saying a word about driver who achieved it.... So Renault scandal appearing to have some truth... That scandal would taint everyone involved (Flavio, Pat, Nelson, Nelson, Fernando), all of them will have a lot of PR and legal work to do to save their cariers in F1. First LdM reaction after Spa did not mention Kimi (that was 10 days ago). There is on the track picture of SF with Kimi featuring "King of Spa" title on the information board. That is clear evidence "garage" does not have problems with him. Also few days ago there are more LdM talk that finnaly mentions Kimi and says that he is in great form... I would say something changed in LdM head otherwise he could still live without saying anything about Kimi. There is financial penalty to fire him. He does not appear to want to go drive rally permanently. Alonso is PR risk to sign in the middle of the scandal. SF will have problem if Renault is kicked out of 2010; then Alonso has to find seat urgently. If it is not, Alonso will stay another year in Renault until scandal cools off and Ferrari can sign him without financial penalties. If Massa is not capable to drive Alonso can be signed during winter break, or Fisi can fill the seat and do descent job along with Kimi. If you read between the lines you will clearly see that Fernando Alonso is destined by the ancient Spanish god Nacho to drive only for them. I determined this using Microsoft Excel, so it has to be right. Thank you for your time. This rumor is SUPER unofficial, but I've heard Team US F1 might not be on the grid in 2010. It also means that Renault have investigated this matter thoroughly and metered the required remedy. That Flavio and Pat should have concocted such a vile plan to curry favour with their paymasters is beyond my comprehension. There were some scary practices and incidents in my time in the sport but nothing so base, as this cold-blooded, callous strategy that not only put the life of a young, culpable driver at insane risk but exposed the entire field to potentially lethal danger too.
