Eliseo Salazar the driver steward? What better excuse to post this clip (I just love the commentary):

Yup, poor Salazar will always be remembered by that. For the record, he was friends with Nelson and apparently Nelson later apologized, though Eliseo recognizes that their were never again as close as they were before that. Anyways, its obvious that to be appointed as a race steward, wins and career is irrelevant, which is good, because number of wins do not guarantee a better understanding of the rules.

As for Nelson being a pussy, I would not say that of a guy that had an ulcer the size of manhattan in his colon, and many times drove with excruciating pain in his belly.

Alonso's title rely on different candidates taking points off each other more than it relies on Ferrari making the difference on a major upgrade for the F2012.

A dominant car/driver for the remaining of the season would mean GAME OVER for his title hopes. I can't wait to know if Spa an Monza are a turning point in the WDC or they're a follow-up.

If Coulthard came back right now, mathematically, this could still be his year.

As the Frenchmen would put it: there's a certain Jensen quoi in your comment...

Best bit of today was for me was definitely the fail after first practice. As I'm sure many of you will know, they bring up the complete times on the screen at the end of the session, and whoever did the national flag symbols got it horribly wrong.

For a start, Kobayashi was British (which I'm sure this Government would have something to say about...), Ricciardo was German, Vergne was American (someone for Eric to support wink.png) and Rosberg and Maldonado were Spanish.

Who knew? I didn't. tongue.png

I never could have Pictured a practice timesheet like that.

He did a good job racing against the Glock.

You shouldn't have mentioned it because now I have to get into my crap. tongue.png

I never really understood why they include national flags in the results and why they play anthems on the podium. I can't really make the connection between nationality and Formula One. Despite all the non-serious stuff I post about U.S. Americans in racing, I truly think it's stupid to try to celebrate a country for one individual entity's accomplishments, whether they belong to a driver or team. Britain didn't win the last race. Hamilton and McLaren did. I just don't understand trying to involve nationality in F1 at all.

Now you'll probably turn around and say "but Eric, some of the guys in the ladder you support/follow are North Americans, you hypocrite" and that's true, one's from California, the other's from Ontario, and the third's from both Rome and Arizona. So why does that happen? Because I follow the feeder series in North America, so I'm familiar with the drivers who raced in North America before they raced in Europe. I'm sure if I knew any others, I'd be interested in their careers, but because I am dumb and stupid and can only keep track of so many series, I only know the drivers I've gotten to see race. Couldn't care less where they're from, and the proof is in that phrase, because if I were a true xenophobic jingoist I'd have used the Americanism of "could care less" tongue.png

SparkNotes: I think we just witnessed the Pic of Charles' career.

I think that there is a place for National anthems and patriotism in general in F1.

True fans normally follow the driver they love for a whole host of other reasons; rarely to do with Nationality. But less hardcore fans want to see their country ment do well. Hell, even as a true fan, I still fill a sense of National pride when Lewis or Jenson grace the top step.

I can understand how you feel; you won't be celebrating an American win until Obama becomes Queen.

Britney speaking in Spanish! And very good at it.

Not that it is of much comfort when it was basically to say "I suck", but still...

Pretty cool qualifying :D Lovely to see Kobayashi and Kimi ahead. And Button deserved a pole I guess :P

Very good grid for Alonso too. All his main rivals behind him, only Kimi ahead.

I love it when people think like that :D

I heard he lives in Spain most of the time. Ibizzza!

You're right Andrés, qualifying makes no sense but great job Maldonado, Pérez and Kobayashi.
