Jpm: We'll Blow Renault Away

Recommended Posts

With a wrong strategy and after loosing 9 seconds for a FIA mistake. Alonso could have fight for victorie, he has done (arguably) the best overtaking movement of the season (that sublime movement over MS in 130R)

it wasnt an FIA mistake, Alonso did not give up his track position entirely, as he let klien through, and promptly tucked himself into klien's slipstream, and passed him on the straight....this was what the FIA fumed at...

so even though he did kinda let klien through, he did not satisfy the fia while doing so.....

also, credit must be given to kimi for his pace even on a heavy car.....

and yes...the move by alonso on MS was indeed spectacular... however, in my opinion I think the Michael of the 90s would have held his line on the inside and have made FA to yield....I was applauding alonso's pass, but the back of my mind said, MS never lets that happen!

but I have no doubts in my mind that kimi was the man of the race

I have no doubt about it, Michael lifted off when Alonso passed him around the outside of 130R, but still a fantastic move nonetheless! As for the WCC, maybe Jacques feels a little guilty about not helping Renault sufficiently last year and is doing so this year re. JV/JPM incident ;)

According to the FIA rules, what Alonso did (by allowing Klien through the first time) was completely legitimate!!!

He didnt gain an unfair advantage for the pass at the end of the straight since, he slowed down(slower that the Red Bull), to let him through.

the FIA claims that FA did not nullify the amount of time he gained by cutting thro the chicane by letting klien through ...in their opinion he should have left a bit more of a gap before trying to re-overtake.....

Are you sure the FIA actually said that???

As far as I know, the FIA said what Kiko stated:

The FIA did apologise to Renault, it was a mistake asking FA to let CK go ahead again, as they had not noticed the initial re-pass at the beginning of the straight

Didn't all this also happen when there were yellow flags out in that area?

ITV commentary made brief mention of this fact.

This is what www.f1.com says in its race analysis:

********************************************************************************

********************************

In fact, Renault believed their man could also have won, but for an incident on lap nine when he overshot the chicane while challenging Christian Klien for seventh place. Alonso got it by missing the chicane, and slowed on the exit to let Klien repass before overtaking him again before the start/finish line. That wasn’t enough for the FIA stewards, however, who let Renault know that they expected the champion to let Klien pass again. This Alonso did on the 11th lap, before going past him again going into Turn One on lap 13. Renault calculated this cost him seven seconds which prevented him from fighting for the lead later on.

********************************************************************************

********************************

so clearly the FIA were aware that he had let klien pass momentarily...however, since he re-took the spot real quickly by slipstreaming behind the car that he had just allowed to regain track position, the FIA felt that he had gained an unfair advantage by cutting the chicane...atleast that is my take on the issue...

at no point did the FIA apologize saying their stewards had got it wrong....So it wasnt an FIA "mistake" or "slip up"...they were aware of what happened

Yesterday, in an interview in a spanish radio channel FA said that the FIA asked the team to slow FA down in order to let CK go ahead but when FA did this the FIA said it was a mistake. Why the hell is he going to lie? He did not complaint about it so he doesn

Renault say's that it (the entire incident with Klien) cost FA 7 secs and this stopped FA fighting for the win. Across the chequered flag, Kimi was over 17 secs ahead of FA. So, in retrospect (forgetting the incident with Klien), Alonso would have finished 10 secs behind Kimi putting him (.....guess?)

IF IT IS ON THE FIA OFFICIAL SITE, IT NO LONGER IS AN OPINION. IT IS FACT...so dont compare that to u finding other unreliable sources like the spanish radio or watever

The unreliable source around here is you... The guy who was driving the car has said what happened. I don

What does it matter, they were RACING!!! Did you honestly expect JV to move out of Alonso's way? Come on mate, relax a little. Yes Alonso got screwed by the weather on Saturday but that doesn't mean he has the right to just expect everyone to move over, it's his responsibility to make the move, not make ppl move over. Anyways, Renault got a 2-3, Alonso would not have won considering all the time he lost due to the Klein/FIA incident and the time he took to pass Michael, so it really cost Alonso NOTHING!!!
lol that is some funny s h i t !

 It's not the first time this year that Alonso had a hard time trying to pass JV. He was stuck behind Jacques for about 16 laps in Melbourne I think it was, and that's when the Sauber was much worse (for Jacques) but JV still kept him behind. Doesn't matter now, Alonso is a deserving World Champion, although I understand how keen you, Ecapdeville and your fellow Alonso/Renault fans want to see Renault win the WCC.
