Sir Jackie Tips Rubens To Beat Jenson

Recommended Posts

Sir Jackie Stewart says he believes former Ferrari man, Rubens Barrichello, will have the edge over new team mate, Jenson Button, in the 2006 F1 season.

The three-time World Champions says the 33-year-old Barrichello just seems to be more comfortable at the moment and Button

This thread shouldnt have been started - I look forward to yet another 4-page frenzy of extreme Button-bashing by everyone except me and Jenson_Rules. Please just state your opinions and don't go overboard with the insults. Please remember there are button fans like me who will be reading it!

We all know my opinion. And I think jackie would say that, he's always been close with Rubens

well JB has the advantage over RB in the sense that he has'nt got to adjust to the team and the new car is maybe going to be built around him so i dare say it is adv JB for atleast the first few races

I think Rubens will put more pressure to Button (a ton more than the pathetic japanese driver) so he will be forced to give more every race, next year could be a good one for jens, lets see how Honda engines run.

JB should beat him easily. Rubens is so overrated, and slow!
wow you typed something complimentary to JB - thank you!

Is that a compliment or is Sato setting himself up for another attack

After adjusting to the new car, RB should be able to match JB quite easily. I think RB is overated and whilst JB has immense talent - he will be pushed to the maximum which should serve all of us well since his talent can only develop. They will be able to develop a better car together (I believe Sato's input was negligible in any!). Honda want to match Toyota in development and budget - winning the WCC & WDC might take a couple of years.

Rubens coming to BAR is a good thing for the team, so long as Honda continue to work hard and not let the absence of Takuma Sato distract them from their goal. I think Jenson will beat Rubens although the Brazilian will pose much more of a challenge than the hapless Takuma Sato did!

Even 3 years ago JB was more than a match for trulli - was then more than a match for JV - so 2/3 years later, and a lot better than he was back then, I would be very surprised if Jenson wasn't consistently the leading driver in BAR next year. Barrichello is good, has outperformed Schumacher on many occasions since 2000, but the last couple of years Jenson has been consistently brilliant (in my opinion) pretty much every race

Ok then, here's my opinion. JYS is talking out of his arse.

Indeed he is! Barrichello is much better than the japanese driver that cannot be named for safety issues but he isnt all that great, and I do feel some people overate him!

Not at all, Wez. Just saying that JYS ain't the best judge of a driver. He pretty much destroyed Jan Magnussen trying to make him drive like his boy Rubens. RB is good, no question, but he's also one of Sir Jackie's favourites so it's no surprise to hear JYS bigging him up.

Fair enough,

Im just saying every topic involving Button turns into tug of war between "Button is useless" vs "Button is the Greatest".

Personally I think the two drivers will be fairly close, with Button probably just pipping Barrichello throughout the season.

I for one have never truthfully stated Button is the greatest and i do not believe button is anywhere near the greatest nor will he ever be! I however do often joke by saying for example ''button is god''! Dosnt mean i actually believe it, i often just make jokes!

Hyperbole! Rubens has beaten Michael a fair few times, not on many occasions as you say, and Jenson has certainly not been consistently brilliant! He has however driven well

I know. And how dare you in our hollowed forums!

I think RB is a pretty good driver and it will be close but JB will just be ahead on average.

Just to reiterate - he won't trounce him like he has so many other team mates. Unless JB is even better than we think.

which he isn't, so he won't. I think Rubens will strongly challenge JB, but JB will edge him

"Rubens knows how to be world champion.''

I have the utmost respect for JYS, but how does he know that RB has what it takes to be WDC, he hasn't won one, hence he doesn't know what it takes.
