We so not dispute the contributions of the USA during times of conflict. What is galling, however, is the perceived need to ram it down our throats, together with occasionally rewriting history when it suits (ok, so I know thats Hollywood, but kids believe what they see and hear).

America only came into WW1 and WW2 when it suited their interests, i hate it when Americans say they saved the world. Countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand and India came into both wars (especially WW1) when there was no threat to us, in WW1 the Germans couldnt get anywhere near Australia. We came into the war because it was the right thing to do, to defend our mother country from a very real threat.

Thanks for helping with the normandy landings and all that but don't forget at 1 point in the war Britain stood alone, all our allies had been defeated, and we resisted invasion at the Battle of Britain. Australia and New Zealand were never defeated, we were happy to have our troops defending England in the first part of the war but when the Japanese were becoming a real threat we needed those troops to defend our homeland. But you are right, England did stand alone in the latter half of the war and you defended yourself well. But i know that if Australia and New Zealand didnt move our troops to intercept the Japanese in Indonesia then Australia would have been invaded.

The news programs there regularly claim that the US itself is mankind's greatest achievement! In fact there are of course higher rates of poverty, crime, obesity there than in most other developed countries. Virtual illiteracy is so common that over 2/3 of americans don't believe in evolution. Did you know that the infant mortality rate is higher in the US than in Cuba (and therefore most other countries)? Of course there are good things about the US but you really should take more notice of the rest of the world, especially when you're polluting the planet so much rather than changing your economy in any way.

About that ratio it is becoming serious health problem for USA as those people have higher tendency of certain diseases (especially heart related i think). It has got to do with food majority keeps eating or something. But it should not be used or taken as insult, it is serious medical problem and should be left so.

As of WW2 BS..hate or love it but Germany was defeated by USSR and Baltic states (including Estonia, my Home) was sold out by allies to keep Soviets in the WW2. I do not like it, but i can see why they did it. There were no saints in WW2 (as well as WW1), England and France let Germany to become superpower as well as WW2 was direct result of BS they did to Germany after WW1. So let this die?

You forget that 18 miles away is the National WW2 Museum, albeit not open due to Katrina. We were allowed to have guns because of the fact that we needed a militia back then (1780s-1790s) , and besides, I might not have a gun, but I have a heavy bludgeoning weapon under my bed in case some wacko tries to kill me or my parents. Britain stood alone, I know. We werent in the war because we had not had anyone strike us, until the Japanese awoke the "sleeping giant", to quote Admiral Yamamoto. Who said I wanted to take all the credit? All I'm saying is that we deserve quite a bit of credit, yet you being a liberal try to shove our efforts down the toilet.

I have been on here since February 27, 2004. You call for banning of someone over the most trivial things. Grow a pair and realize that if I havent been banned yet for some things I've said or posted, then I (hopefully) wont be in the near future.

ykickamoocow, I was born in 1988, but if you were referring to the nation, we had to mass mobilize quickly.

Also: Hats off to the women who worked in the factories. Some of the Mexicans I have heard interviews from only care about the George Washington bills they hold in their hands at the end of the day, not their treatment. But I am all for a huge freakin border wall. Vincente Fox has even encouraged the indigiounous (spelling?) persons to migrate to America, as they view human migration to foreign countries as a right, while we try to keep the illegals out.
