Honda expects to be fighting for Formula 1 world championship titles in 2006, according to its president of racing developments Yasuhiro Wada.

The switch to 2.4-litre V8 engines, Honda's acquisition of BAR, the signing of Rubens Barrichello and the retention of Jenson Button mean that, according to the Japanese, all the elements for success are now in place.

Indeed. They should aim to be regular race winners in 2006 but maybe aim above that so that it will happen, and be more of a threat, then they can build upon their 2006 success and mount a real challenge for the WCC and WDC's

Honda should target race wins! They have acheived regular podiums in 04! Its the winning they need to concentrate on!

In 04 yes but in 05 they went backwards so they must first return to their 04 form before they can reasonably be expected to exceed it

I disagree, if a team has such low expectations and aims whats the point in them competing? They realistically should aim for multiple winsa, they have a clean slate with the tyre changes back which they say is a big plus for them!

You mean they need to go back to running underweight cars?

I agree with your post btw. At best they should aim for the first victory.

Throughout F1 history, lots of teams have cheated or at least bent the rules

Its just such a shame that we have to wait until March to see whether or not that have made progress over the winter. I never read too much into testing times as they are often misleading...

However, it was clear last winter that McLaren and Renault were the teams to beat this season just gone.

What are you talking about ButtonGod? Under the competent leadership of Nick Fry and Gil de Ferran, Honda has made great progress: they

maybe its too much to ask but i would love to see a year where not just one ore two teams fight for the WCC and more then 2 people for the WDC

what honda is saying, using my awsome power to read the truth inharent in utter bs is:

"we just hope that if we say it enough times it will be so"

Indeed, we will have a better indication after the 3rd race of the season, but testing does show some signs like it did this year!

Testing isnt very helpful. I remeber a few seasons back (not sure which one, think it was 2004) McLaren were topping the timesheats in testing but when it came to the Australian GP the car was really slow and below everyones expectations.
