Has Cavallino Been Banned

Recommended Posts

Ive just received information that Cavallino has been banned. If this is true i must say im against this. Cavallino and i rarely agree but he is very passionate about formula 1 and that is what this forum needs.

i agree (for once) - i do think that many people around here, not just Cav needed to stop the personal slurs & comments & stop making everything into a personal arguement, but there are many others worse than him & as ykick says he knew a lot about F1 & was extremely passionate about it - i think if hes been banned thats very unfair :( -

p.s. and no not just cos he was a Ferarrari fan

Cav was banned for 14 days for going balistic in a thread. simple as that, other people have been banned over time for the same thing and will be in the future.

If cav does want to continue posting for the next 2 weeks he could just log on as a new member surely, with a different name?

People get banned for rude language and personal attacks. I have been banned for many a week, and it is really a good thing. If one can't behave (which I could not towards certain members) one gets the boot. Simple and fair.

Cavallino posted at least 10 extremely rude posts using profound language and he should consider himself 'lucky' not to have been banned before.

We all need to keep the language at a civilised level if not the forum will be deserted.

I have problems constraing myself at times, but as the old fart says, just write the post, backspace over the rudeness whe you have got your frustration out and its all cricket.

I wouldn't question his passion for the sport and debate but his participation on this forum deteriorated over the past months to the point where he was offering little more than spam. I don't support his being banned but I must say I'm not displeased by it.

Cav's a good guy but he's been driven I believe to be posting crazy stuff and supporting Narain_fan in certain topics. Brainwashed probably.

Driven to insanity by whom?

Believe me, I know how hard it is to maintain dignity and grace when someone disagrees with something you know is right. It's easy to slip past the line and start hurling insults. Cav has done it, I have done it, and so have a few others. I haven't been banned probably because I've stopped offending and offered apologies to all involved.

What you see today is a more humble puma. One that realizes that he isn't always 100% correct. Cav, in my humble opinion, needs to realize this as well and perhaps he won't be so tempted to hurl insults.

The flip side is that the rest of us need to acknowledge when a fellow poster is correct, even if it flies in the face of what we think is right. Cav has often omitted facts to prove his case, but more often than not he's been spot-on in his analysis. So have other posters. Give credit where credit is due and perhaps we can avoid anyone getting their feather's ruffled.

About time SOMEONE faced some sort of consequences.

I think that the CAD rules should apply here.

Please, not again!!!!! If you really want to know (and you don't, trust me), Mike, then PM Chris. For my part, I would like to see Cav back here soon, even if he does infuriate me at times. In fact, that's exactly why I would like him back...........

The rules for the Ctrl+Alt+Del forums:

The Rules Thread

Many sub-forums have their own rules in addition to these. Make sure to read them before posting in that sub forum.

Each mod has a sub-forum they are in charge of. Problems in their forum mean you should go through them, then me. If you have any suggestions for improvement of a sub-forum go to the mod in charge of it first. Sometimes a mod takes action outside of their forum when they feel a situation needs immediate action. If you have a problem go to them first, then that forums mod. If you still are not satisfied contact me.

Use the proper resources before asking us what you are too lazy to look up.

Urban Dictionary, Dictionary.com, Wikipedia, Google

The rules:

Flaming: You can lightly flame in a Thread but don't make direct attacks. Personal attacks that are obviously between friends joking around are allowed up to a point. Nation bashing is not allowed.

However, at anytime anyone uses racism, sexual orientation,

religion to slam someone, that is a ban. Derogatory comments about these topics are treated the same way. The minimum ban is 7 days.

Flaming is a 3 day ban the first time, after that is up to the discretion of the moderator.

Bumping of a thread is not allowed. If you have a post to make that fits a thread and it is under the 14 day necropost rule that is fine. If the thread was worthy of attention it would have people active in it and would not need bumping. To deliberately bump a thread is an automatic 3 day suspension.

Homework threads will be locked.

Jokes about rape/surprise sex are not allowed. 3 days ban for the first offense.

RoM/Rantings of Madmen was once a subforum on CAD. After a bunch of unnecessary drama it was deleted and the some Mods/Members were banned by Tim. This topic has been covered ad nauseam and is no longer allowed on CAD. If you make a thread about RoM it will be deleted and you will be permabanned. If you ask about RoM or post about it you can be banned depending on the discretion of the mod handling this.

Gimmick or secondary accounts are illegal and will be permabanned. Depending on the situation the main account may be banned too.

When requesting any ban of your account it will automatically be a Permaban. This is due to problems and melodramatic bulls##t caused by past members abusing ban requests.

Leet speak and typing shorthand (R u going 2night?) are not allowed. Yes we see the irony of a web comic based on gaming making this rule. The fact is when you try to read a thread and 1/3 of it is typed like that it gets very old, very fast.

Any thread titled "The Official" without permission of the mod in that sub forum will be locked and the thread creator receives a 7 day ban. We look down on someone speaking for CAD when they are not in a position to do so. Any thread titled "The Unofficial" is redundant and is a back door attempt at authority. They will be closed.

Bragging, telling how, asking how, etc on the topic of illegal activities is a bannable offense. This is not America, Australia or Canada. This is CADland. Drugs, Pirating and P2P programs are illegal for example. This is a 7 day ban minimum if not an automatic Perma. There is no CADland drinking age. If you are stupid enough to post proof you are underage drinking on the internet that is your business.

Any post/thread on the topic of getting around work/school/parental firewalls/etc is a 7 day ban. We are not here to show you how to misuse someone else's internet access. They pay for it, they make the rules.

Spam: We ban for spam based on how annoying it is to the mod. Guaranteed bans are given for random quote generator posts/threads (i.e. Vin Diesel or Chuck Norris). The other guaranteed ban will be versus threads (i.e. ninjas -v- pirates or vikings -v- robots). Parrot threads, Attn: threads or ITT: threads are considered spam. Spam is a 3 day ban the first time, after that is up to the discretion of the moderator.

If your post is an advertisement you will be banned anywhere from 7 days to perma for spamvertising. If you joined to spamvertise it is an automatic perma.

There will be no porn/nudity/bloody/disgusting/offensive pictures posted. Ban time is up to the discretion of the mod, not to exceed 7 days.

Necroposting is when you find a thread that has been inactive for a set amount of time and then post in it again. Anyone who brings a Thread back to life on day 14 or later is necroposting and they will receive a 3 day ban. If you are confused what makes a necro, look at the date of the last post and add the number 14. If your calendar is on or past that date, it is a necro. An update by the original poster in the Thread is not a necropost. The following threads are exempt from the necroposting rule:

Blah blah blah

The mods are here to do a job. They try to follow guidelines but have the ability to use their own discretion. If a mod feels any type of ban is needed that doesn't fall into a rule the mod has the ability to act as he/she sees fit. Same with locking threads and editing posts. For those who seem to think mods have to follow a straight line of rules that is not true. We prefer that to happen but mods were picked with trust in their discretion. They are expected to use it.

If you have any questions about The Rules Thread feel free to contact me through E-mail/PM/IM. Do not make a thread or post about it. That just wastes time and bandwidth (i.e. spam).

This document will be changed as time goes on I am sure. Check here first if you have questions.

Ecap was right:
