Me Thinks Alonso To Bmw?

Recommended Posts

"Heidfeld open to Alonso" to me means BMW are contrary to public annoucement, trying to poach Alonso... If it happens it will be more like a schumacher to ferrari than the mclaren switch. The move would be the catalyst for moving the team up to the top teir, This would either cement his place in history as one of the all time greats or be a miserable failure that ruins his career by being beaten by heidfeld!

If this happens, F1 will lose 20-30 million fans overnight ( Poland and estern europe). Including me. I HOPE Theissen isn't that stupid. And considering that Heidfeld performance was below Roberts most of the seazon, plus that he has about 2-4 years left (vs 10 on Robert's side methinks would be rather very shortsighted move by BMW. BUT, stranger things happened. <_<

Of course, Theissen was quoted as saying that Kubica needs faster car to start winning. Does it imply a swap? In that case both BMW and McLearen would have a clear # 1 and #2 drivers. It could happened, I guess. And Kubi could compete on the same level as Alonso given McLearen car. I think. :eusa_think:

No, F1 will not loose anyone, only one-sided people like you. Not really a loss.

Thats why Theissen is a manager and not you. He would get a double WC.

But its only another rumor, so don't be afraid, until now, no-one knows anything for sure.

Lonso leaves, Lonso goes to Renault.

Lonso says no to BMW.

Why?

Lonso needs to be somewhere where he knows they love him. Renault loves him. A lot. To the point of Flavio doing things in victory lane with Fernando that you don't see on TV unless it's past 11:00 PM.

In 2007 GP US had HALF viewership in Poland as GP Montreal, or, for that matter, any other 2007 GP. A significant drop was also observed in several other eastern european countries. That shows how much you don't know, and that I am right, and you are wrong. Theissen got rid of a former WC to get Kubica in. OBVIOUSLY he knew something that most other people did not. I note, that YOU are also NOT a F1 manager. Obviously, for a reason. I don't think I'm afraid - Kubica has shown enough to have a guaranteed ride in F1 for years to come - and if you don't know that, maybe it's time to start watching some races.

Agreed, but only if Renault will show it can be competitive as in 2006. I don't think that Alonso's ego would let him be satisfied with 5th or 6th place.

nope,

Seeing Werner Heinz, Nick's Manager, in paper again talking about Nick being great driver, who will SURELY be driving for BMW next year brings only one think to my mind.

He is not so sure about that "surely" thing. In other words: Heidfeld's contract is still not there, and Theissen not rushing do sign it.

on the other hand you talk about that kind of people like those in Germany who watched f1 for Schumacher an since the end of last season they don't because he is not there. OK, those people buy shirts, jackets and hats, they watch the commercials but they know nothing about racing and nothing about formula one. I would not cry if they go.

You think of the people who loved Schuhmacher, and therefore hated Alonso..lol...who cares about them anyway.

There are still a lot here in germany, Alsonso to BMW could teach them a good lesson...would love to see that.

Whatever some may think here, Theissen has a lot of respect for Alonso, and he would not say no if he could get him into the team.

Just to remember some facts. They didnt get rid of JV to have Kubi. They got rid off JV TO GET RID OFF JV. Kubi being third driver was a detail hehe Also, he's not a F1 manager and neither are you. Dr T is, and he'll decide who'll drive a BMW or not. Also, F1 survived for many years w/o Kubi fans, and I don't think it would bankrupt for that... The real polish F1 fans will watch F1 w/ or w/o him...

Don't worry Piotr, Robert has a future in F1 regardless of the fact Alonso may take his seat at BMW Sauber. He will be loaned to another team for a couple of seasons and then taken right back by BMW when the time comes for Nick to retire or is considered a better option. And above all this is all just rumor mongering, it might not even happen.

Robert has done enough in the sport to be never left out.

Agreed. Just like how F1 is living without Michael Schumacher, who was 1 billion times more popular than Kubi.

Well, they should try, but if he has ties with Renault, I don't think they'll get the results. However, I guess it is worth a shot because you'd hate to let such a good driver slip.

Alonso has a contract with Mclaren, and is doing everything they want him to do, even if he is not totally happy about it. He will win the WDC and be at McLaren next year, unless

1. McLaren is guilty of stealing Ferrari ideas and the points are stripped away. This will be a breach of contract, and give him an out.

I know very little, but in these off-weekends I've been learning about this Alonso situation, and I think he is really looking to leave, he just needs the right situation, and I think that BMW and Renault would offer better situations than McLaren do. If Ron Dennis said he is free to leave, and Fernando said he didn't know if he'd return, I think it means he isn't really wanted/needed there, and he doesn't really want/need to be there.

You would not, but sponsor surely will. As I stated before, I think Kubi earned SOME ride for the next 5-7 years, but I'd rather not see him fighting for 15th spot with Coulthard. BMW has a huge stake in Poland, so I'm not sure taking Kubi out is in their best interest. Also, Theissen shepherded Robert throught the last 5 or 6 years of his carrier, so he may not be so willing to let him go.

I think I agree with your analysis, that it's Heidfeld who should worry, and so he does the "preemptive strike" as in " If you let me stay, I'll be happy to be # 2 to Alonso - no problem!"

Same one as you, except I'm looking at lap times, stats, etc,, not just the finishes. Compare the results - the only time Heidfeld was ahead was either because he crashed into Kubi (TWICE!!) or Kubica's car was not performing 100%. Of course, thids also happened to Nick once, I think (when he DNfd). Bottom line, Heidfeld is at best evenly matched with Kubica

True. It is said he could also argue that the whole shenanigans of the Hungrian GP has also damaged him, specialy after the team said that it had been Hamilton disobeying team orders, and that it was the team holding him, but he still got a penalty.

Sponsor wise, Telefonica (whom Alonso does not like) has the brand O2, so for them it could be a way back into F1, by investing heavily to get Alonso freed

Not really, check the figures. If they were looking for a fan base and sponsorships they would go for American or Japanese driver. They hired Kubica in spite of the fact he had no sponsors.

I think Alonso will stay where he is.

What are the options for getting a third (or fourth by next season) championship?

Mclaren, always a good bet for a championship contending car, plus he's already in.

Ferrari, no room at the inn just yet methinks, plus that would probably mean that Kimi has to go so that Alonso can be number 1, that will be one or two years before that happens.

BMW Sauber, Why leave Mclaren to go there? Granted they are on the way up but not in a title winning position for at least a couple of years.

Renault, If he is serious about winning the title again soon why would he sign for a team that may not get back there again for a couple of years?

The rest, need I bother?

Dont forget also that Alonso himself has said that he does not want to be in F1 for too long. If that is the case, he should stay at Mclaren, shut up and let his driving do the talking.
