Here is the synopsis
Luhrmann's film is set in northern Australia prior to World War II and centers on an English aristocrat (Kidman) who inherits a ranch the size of Maryland. When English cattle barons plot to take her land, she reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn cattle driver (Jackman) to drive 2,000 head of cattle across hundreds of miles of the country's most unforgiving land, only to still face the bombing of Darwin, Australia, by the Japanese forces that had attacked Pearl Harbor only months earlier.
It sound to me that this film is just going to be pushing more Australian stereotypes. They could have picked any profession for Hugh Jackman such as a accountant of structural engineer which arnt stereotypes but for some reason they chose a profession for him which is a huge stereotype.

DC: "I am not motivated by recognition, I just do things I like doing - racing, shagging, eating and drinking."
Dave Hughes: Taking drugs is like taking a ride to New Zealand on a concorde. The trip is good but once you land you end up in a bad place."

[rant] If it is a Hollywood movie, then don't believe ANYTHING in it, as they have a tradition of ignoring almost everything about historical facts, yet they love to do every now and then "historical" movies. I have no idea why they insist in distorting facts so much. You could say the movies look great and they certainly do ("Gladiator" comes to mind) But when they consistently distort facts so much, it would be better to just put them in some fantasy land than trying to pass those fairy tales as history. GRRRRR. Yes, it p**ses me off because many people actually thinks those are facts! Gladiator is pure BS no matter how good it may look, and has only the slightest connection with the real emperors Marcus Aurelius and Comodus. Not to mention the few times they tried to show something about my country! Why couldn't they at least read a little about a country before portraying it? They used to portray Argentinians as a mix between Mexicans and Spanish, complete with Flamenco suits and saying "Ole!"....geez, how ignorant can they be??? [/rant]
On a more minor scale, it always annoys me that they either exaggerate the British accent for effect, just so the American masses can see their heroes have allies say or to indicate that someone is "different" and hence likely to be a villain, or they give our best characters US accents because the alternative is just way too "arty".
Oh and finally I like Baz Luhrman's Romeo and Julliet!
That's the key to a freedom that I'll never understand.

It's all to the good. Would you Aussies like to have the reputation as nerdy accountants or rugged, women-swooning ranchers?

You said it. Hell, the censorship is reaching stupid proportions. Even HBO is supposed to sterilise all movies. The current health minister of India has a stupid idea of banning smoking scenes in movies.
Maybe ,sexual repression is a ploy by the establishment to make us adults sexually frustrated ,thereby forcing us to procreate more & make India numero uno in terms of population. Perhaps that may be true for most religions ,too. Most religions frown upon sexual viewing or impose restrictions on women with a view to encourage more breeding & increase the numbers of the religion.

the film should really be called 'Diana: the final hours' or something similar, because the whole film is just about Diana, the queen is more of a support role!

I can think of a few tailor-made roles :
Cavallino can be a lawyer who never loses an argument ,in the movie. With his gift of the gab ,he can essay the role with ease.
Dribbler can provide the laughs with his funny one-liners & comic timing.
Katy H (Priscilla) & Kay Zee can be the eye candy with minimal or no dialogues. Hey girls, there're no strings attached to acting in my movie. No casting couch.
Murray Walker can be the narrator. There's no other role for him, since we've never seen him.
Pumpdoc can act the dirty old man with a foul mouth.
Jenson_Rules(Ben) is fit for the role of an alcoholic. He just has to be himself.
goferrarigo (Ankit) can be the naive ,gullible guy.
What about me? I don't know what I suit. I have left out a lot of members here. Please do suggest suitable roles for yourselves. Hey ,there no pushing & shoving ! Get in line.
