JHS 1 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 I think the teams are more concerned about getting their race drivers suited to their cars before they bother with test drivers....
Quiet One 15 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 Interesting. All teams split the four days with the 2 first for one driver and the remaining to the other one...all except Mercedes were drivers take alternate days. Schumi takes 11 and 13th. Is it another case of his "I-like-odd-numbers"?
JHS 1 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 Hahah, good point. Maybe. Rain expected for this test so maybe the Rain Maestro will give Mercedes an early advantage for those conditions?
Rainmaster 7 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 I heard my name. My guess would be something weather related too, I can't imagine Schumi is that superstitious about odd numbers.
AleHop 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 Schumi takes 11 and 13th. Is it another case of his "I-like-odd-numbers"? Very mean people think it would be too hard two consecutive days testing for his neck. BTW, I heard Nelsinho had a good start in Nascar?

Silas Talbot 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 With so many Germans [at Mercedes], I hope Ross doesn't feel lonley... I don't think that an all German lineup is a good PR decision for Mercedes. They sell most of their cars outside of Germany, and not having at least one token foreign driver (even as a tester) makes them seem elitist and snobbish to their international audience, as well as some other not-so-nice words. But then, since they're in the luxury car business, maybe elitist and snobbish is what they're going for.. Robert Kubica really should have been in a Merc seat. Heck, if you ask Mercedes, I'm sure they'll conquer concur Poland is really a part of the fatherland anyways. Bottom line, it's harder for me to make a decision to buy/wear the merchandise and root for the 'German National Team' than it is for me to simply root for Mercedes. AleHop 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 Yeah, he managed to wreck Danica Patrick. Nice work son. Sorry, I think it wasn't Nascar but ARCA Daytona. There was a big pile up or something, was that Piquet?

Is it another case of his "I-like-odd-numbers"? This story of Schumi's superstitions is so absurd. He's always won his championships with odd numbers? puh-leeze. He's always won his championships as #1 or #3 because he's been the top or second-top scorer during the season before that. It's that simple. What it really means is that he does his best under consistent, evolutionary conditions (And he always beats his teammate). He builds off of last year's success to continue challenging for the championship. If anything, this doesn't bode well for his 2010 season no matter what number is on Schumi's car. It's pretty clear why they made the decision to give #3 to Schumacher. Michael Schumacher would never take a team's #2 car unless Senna's ghost came looking for a race seat. Period. I don't even think they had to put out the faux justification to pretend there was a different reason.

AleHop 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 Another World Champion for Massa Felipe Massa faces another uphill season. It happens like that since he landed in Formula One in 2001, always rowing upstream, "driving against", as he said at Madonna Di Campiglio. The arrival of Fernando Alonso is not the biggest challenge of his life, it is the last one, the fourth time he is going to drive along a World Champion. Villeneuve in Sauber, and Schumacher and Ferrari in Ferrari. It is the story of his life. "In my career I have always faced problems, at first I had to win to be able to keep racing." I learned so much with the problems, I have always had problems, like the accident. "Life is difficult for everyone". In 2008 he outscored Kimi, the World Champion, and he lost the title in the last corner against Hamilton. Things did play against him because a month earlier, in Singapore, he was leading the race when the crash-gate cost him the win. "i only hope that does not happen again for the good of sport", he says, "but the past is gone". The accident in 2009 when he was de facto #1 at Ferrari... This [working together for the team] includes telemetry data sharing, compare laps, and copy both drivers' style, braking references, the way they work. Massa has no problem to recognize that he will do so with Fernando: "his experience, his way of driving, you can put his telemetry on your lap and see where you can improve, how to set up the car, where to turn, where to throttle, etc. And he can do also." ...It won't be easy [for Alonso] at all. He's open to learn, he's ready for another challenge in his career, he's humble, he deserves a Championship already... Alonso will have to be very focused and I'm sure he may learn a lot from Massa too. It will be interesting. http://www.marca.com/blogs/elgrancirco/2010/02/10/otro-campeon-para-massa.html
Insider 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 Today in F1, I have it it on impeccable authority that Schumi's neck is still a cause for concern for both his doctor and physio. They will both be in close attendance at Jerez. The likelihood of Kimi returning to F1 after only one season of tree bashing is highly unlikely, I feel. He'll want a bit more of a go at it than the odd flip-over and stage win - he's Finnish, for chrissakes! The much-vaunted move of Vettel to MGP would probably have to be at Rosberg's expense, unless there is something seriously awry with Schumi's Gregory Peck. RBR would probably snap Rosberg up at half of what Kimi would want. I could see Webber moving on in 2011 too, making way for Buemi. You have to admire Zoran Stefanovich's blind tenacity or deduce that he knows something we don't. I'll go for the latter. You don't get to build the kind of business empire he has if you are as seriously unhinged as some observers would have us think he was. The Lotus looked nice. JB v. MP-25 & the White Tower of Woking has got my attention today though, I am certainly interested to see what the Bulls and Sauber do. Toodle-do.

Insider 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2010 Today in F1, Schumi confirmed his neck is fully healed, rumours abound that VW may become Campos Meta's saviour, [why were they admitted in the first place?], Stefan GP have asked Jean Todt to consider 28 teams for the 2010 grid, [that's a boat load too many of back-markers for me] and USF1 remain silent, as always. I guess VW have to start somewhere if they are to become involved and there is a Spanish link through SEAT. STR may consider loaning Jaime but the Torro Rosso boys look very good in testing. More likely that Heidfeld could be prised out of MGP or Ralf could re-appear. Interesting. SGP have done more work in a few weeks than USF1 have in 18 months - they deserve a place for effort. I understand the American team's HQ has been put up for sale. Could we see Bugatti GP back at last or even Scuderia Lamborghini gracing the grid. VW have Porsche, Audi and Bentley to chose from too! We'll pass on Skoda GP, I think.

JHS 1 Report post Posted February 17, 2010 So, an update as to US F1: No money No car No second driver No chance of ever getting ready for the first race, let alone the first test. Brian Bonner, head of buisness development, has reportedly left the team. Chad Hurley has apparently gone to Campos Aaaaand their factory is for sale. Going really well, isn't it?
