In this business, denials are generally confirmations in my experience. However, the denial was in regard to a contract being inked. I believe the Bild story below will be ratified at today's team launch. Yeah this bit of news seemed to slip under the radar. I really was looking forward to balls out, low fuel, new tyres Q3. How qualy is meant to be I guess. But now this proposed rule may put an end to that. Bugger!! I'll be happy with it once I see the strategic side outweighing the slightly less entertaining Q3. Just depends on how much of an advantage it is until LH works out the best way to tailor his driving, and with the JB data there to learn from i'm guessing it won't take him too long at all. Apparently, he has already reached an agreement with Mclaren (unbelievable, I know) to lease year old GP cars for the young drivers. Re the costs of running the cars, renting the tracks, staff etc, there's no reason why it couldn't be marketed as 'F1-b', having its own mini championship. 2. Because the performance of the cars has 'history', an equivalency formula could be used to provide almost identical machinery for each driver, but still with the marketing/sponsorship opportunities for the original manufacturer.... would be possible to achieve by adding weight, restricting air intakes/rev limits, cutting one leg off the driver etc etc. 3. And in the third year... these cars (actual, and design) become GP2 (mebe with slightly inferior tyres, if that's possible!), with parts built under licence after the first year so the independent motorsport engineering companies get a fair crack. But, most of all, wouldn't it a good way to show the previous year's cars aren't such a fecking waste of money, or am I just too green for my own good?
