ben_3001 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 WTF is up with Ferrai, is there anything of the 2004 for chassis, downforce regulations, weight and such and such that would explain it's speed?!!? Anyways good to see the big boys come out and play. Both Renault and Honda look very strong. Honda surprised me with the new car, looks great! Good to see BMW make some progress in it's time as well. Can't wait till 2 F1.06's are going to be up in testing!!
pumpdoc 2 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 ........and good times from Ferrari, but it is only testing........................
monza gorilla 1 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 Yep, it is only testing, but very encouraging to see 2 or three teams setting similar times out of the box. I'll be amazed if that's typical of the Ferrari pace though!

pumpdoc 2 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 Yes it should be faster if the past is any indicator ie: they rarely show their hand in the off season.
Jenson_Rules 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 indeed, especially driven by massa. No way is it a V8 as the V8's are not near to matching V10 times yet!

narain fan 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 Yes it should be faster if the past is any indicator ie: they rarely show their hand in the off season. the best is yet to come..... Barcelona day 3: Old Ferrari fastest as new Honda breaks cover Felipe Massa set the pace in a 2004 Ferrari fitted with a V8 engine today while Renault and Honda were the fastest of the 2006 cars on the third day of teting this week at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona While Massa completed 67 laps in the old car, the 2006 Ferrari arrived at the circuit in the afternoon ready to begin testing tomorrow. The team had planned to test at Mugello, but very cold weather conditions meant the decision was taken to decamp to Spain. Fernando Alonso was second fastest in the 2006 Renault just 0.378s ahead of Jenson Button in the brand new 2006 Honda. Driving the second new Honda, Rubens Barrichello was fifth fastest. It was a good first day for the team's new car both drivers completed 124 laps between them. Nick Heidfeld was sixth fastest as he got back behind the wheel of the 2006 BMW. The German managed 61 laps and finished ahead of the two Toyotas of Jarno trulli and Olivier Panis. Juan Pablo Montoya was behind the wheel of the new McLaren MP4-21 managing 80 laps and the day's ninth fastest lap. Gary Paffett was also in action for McLaren adding 68 laps for the day's twelfth fastest time. Scott Speed was at the wheel for Scuderia Toro Rosso finishing eleventh fastest behind Red Bull Racing's David Coulthard. BMW tester Robert Kubica was thirteenth and last after 61 laps in the team's winter testing car. Testing at Barcelona continues tomorrow. f1racing.net indeed, especially driven by massa. No way is it a V8 as the V8's are not near to matching V10 times yet! i think you are underestimating the v8 pace.... yesterday you said that the v8 cars will be slower by a big margin vis-a-vis the v10's you also said that the renault v8 wont be upto scratch.... monza gorilla 1 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 Monza what do you think they are up to? what are you thinking? I'm thinking that to almost equal last years fastest lap is a bit suspicious. Question is, was it running 2006 aero?
ben_3001 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 I'm thinking that to almost equal last years fastest lap is a bit suspicious. Question is, was it running 2006 aero? Anyone think that maybe the 2004 chassis is lighter and has some more downforce then the 2005 chassis or 2006.....I think there must be a damn good reason they are using the 2004 chassis and not the 2005.....and that they might just have and advantage because of that....it's impossible a V8 is that fast allready.... Jenson_Rules 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 ahh well! At least Honda are almost matching renault already and their car has only been on track for 1 day! im very pleased!
monza gorilla 1 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 If the 248 does that sort of time out of the box then we're doomed.
Jenson_Rules 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 Narain fan, I also said that the V8's ont be that much slower on twisty tracks, barcelona is quite twisty so one can assume they wont be as slow at barcelona. However that ferrari time is not accurate? its quite shocking that its matching last years Fastest lap already! Hey Jenson rules do you know Monica Bellucci, she's the hottest woman on earth by a mile . Maybe you can trade in Jess. nah, jess is much hotter! she has a nicer smile! If the 248 does that sort of time out of the box then we're doomed. Indeed I just read on teletext (yes im old fashioned) and it has an extract from jenson saying how he is going to be winning the first race and every race after that, or at leats trying his hardest to! monza gorilla 1 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 Cristiano has posted in another thread that the F2004 V8 is running pre 2005 aero, which would explain a lot. More than a second I would say.

ben_3001 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 it has to be said though, i have proved my point, the reanult of FA and ferrari of FM have bothe been over a second quicker than the BMW! Wow the 2005 WDC & WCC are doing better then BMW!!! Good job calling that one out! You my friend are really a pro at predicting these things!! As for the Ferraris, since they are using 2004 chassis with less weight and aerodynamic restrains they should really not be mixed with the 2006 cars.... Jenson_Rules 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 yes but you must not forget, many on here were sayng that i was wrong predicting a second + gap between bmw and the front running teams, thus my point has now been proved thus those others were wrong! Though it is obvious to many, some seem to think bmw wouldnt have been a second off the pace!
