nojvnof1 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2006 Maybe Rossi's bad outing with the F2004 will finally convince him to stop all the stupid F.1 switch rumoursJeez some of you are so quick to judge, it's as if some of you were wishing him to fail or something. So what if he spun in the damp conditions, big deal?! Everyone else has done it. Vale has spun/crashed whenever he has tried something big for the first time. He crashed his first time ever on a race bike, he crashed first time he tried a 125cc, and he has spun in his first major F1 test. Rossi admits he stuffs things up first time around in his autobiography. Just give the guy a chance.Is he serious about F1? Would he bother attending if he wasn't? I hope it does convince rossi to **** off back to motogp Crashing first time out on a bike didn't stop him, you think such a minor spin is going to make his jump out of F1, get serious mate. He also did some starts and tested intermediate tyres for Michelin. Robert mainly worked with Michelin on a tyre test programme, and in addition did some starts. What comes next: Tomorrow both drivers will continue the tyre programme. Further to this, Jacques will carry out set-up as well as aerodynamic work. Senna 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2006 ROSSI STARS AS ALONSO SETS PACE ITV (For a different slant on events) Valentino Rossi was the star of the show in testing at Valencia on Wednesday despite world champion Fernando Alonso ending the day fastest of all. Rossi, who failed to complete a lap for Ferrari on the opening day of the test, managed 50 on his second attempt and set the ninth quickest lap of all in a V8-powered F2004. The Italian's time, although not the quickest, was impressive for someone of his lack of experience and more than fast enough to establish him in such exalted company. Crowds of locals turned up to see the new world champion once again prove the pace of the new R26. The Spaniard was joined by Heikki Kovalainen, who was sixth fastest in the sister Renault. Jenson Button was second fastest in the new Honda, the Englishman less than a tenth away from Alonso's pace. Michael Schumacher was third fastest and the leading Bridgestone runner in the new Ferrari 248 F1, which is beginning to reveal some of its true pace. Juan Pablo Montoya got into his stride for McLaren in fourth place. He was also the last of the men to break into the 1m12 barrier, as team-mate Kimi Raikkonen was sidelined with a bad cold. Rubens Barrichello was fifth fastest in the second Honda as he concentrated on long runs. Jacques Villeneuve produced another solid run in the new BMW F1.06 while working on set-up and new aero parts. Toyota's Ricardo Zonta was eighth. David Coulthard took over from Christian Klien at Red Bull to go tenth ahead of Alex Wurz in the interim Williams-Cosworth FW27C. Team-mate Mark Webber was 13th as he put more miles on the new FW28. Button's time from ITV is controvrsial. All other unofficial times have him listed as 1.12 or a high 1.11 second time. MS is listed as second fastest in the 248 F1 everywhere else. Strange how ITV-F1 a 'british' site gives Jenson that time lol And I have see Rossi been stated to have been driving a V10 while others say hes driving a V8. Whatever it was JV, MS and JB have times that change from source to source and it rarely happens to have so many drivers having so many different times.... Testing is just TOO confusing and conflicting It's only testing and it is very hard to know who is running legal, light, heavy or whatever. It's testing! However it is not surprising to see ITV with the most "positive spin" on Button's time. Got to say I have no faith in the honesty of ITV! Three other sites quote the times as posted below 01. F.
