Excellent choices. RF's dead of course but he was indeed a genius. He wrote (as you might guess) the great "Feynman Lectures on Physics" that are quite accessible, amongst many other "popular science" books.

The Ode Less Travelled, by Stephen Fry. Its basically gay porn in poem form, and lo! I'm a poet and I don't know it!
