pumpdoc 2 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 Your history is spot on Pumpdoc. 'Tis also true that after a great meal round at the local Castle, it was damn fine manners to ignite one of your choicest trumps over a pile of logs (the wooden variety), thereby helping the innkeeper to keep the place snug and warm. Allegedly, this impressed the damsels so much, that the mark of a man was judged by the depth of his fart - perhaps you should remind the missus what a catch you truly are. Mind you. There was a dark side to all of this. If your farts were crisp, baritone, well defined eruptions - no problem. However, if they were like, well, a 'ffshhhfff' sound, then it was decreed you had your lost your virginity, and of course branded as a raving poof and shot. Spot on mate of course there is the always sbd of which I am a master I love this thread!I like your style! And by the way, my girlfriend burps and farts more than I do! Im so proud Now that's a catch

bajo39 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 WOW, Marry her quick No, don't do that! Don't get married until you know it's the right girl for you to spend the rest of your life with. And even then, don't get married. Never get married, in fact.

Never get married, in fact. One step ahead of you dude, I dont plan to marry anytime soon, maybe never. What for? Are you speaking from experience?
bajo39 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 Are you speaking from experience? Thankfully, no. To add to my earlier comments, the only the reason to get married is to have kids and consequently the only time you should be getting married is when you've decided to have kids with a woman. Note: getting a woman pregnant does not equate to deciding to have kids.

How much emphasis do you put on looks versus say personality, job, etc? My whole life I've put 100% on looks...
monza gorilla 1 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 After 25 years, I went back to that first one. It gave me the opportunity to sample other varieties in the meantime, and no we're not married and never will be. And Dan, mines got personality and looks.........but it was the looks that swung it. Oh, and she earns the same as me, which is a bonus.

pumpdoc 2 Report post Posted September 16, 2006 When I was younger it was deff. looks first, but the fact she could shift a 4-speed ('69 Mustang) with the best of them really got my attention. I've been a gearhead my whole life and how can you pass up a woman that shares your love of all things racing, knows when to bring you a beer, leave you and your buddies alone yet still give you a bj while under her car changing the oil............plus she's smart got a good head on her shoulders manages the house so that I don't have to worry about it, sure we've had our highs and lows but the good has outweighed the bad by far. In retrospect untill I hooked up with my wife I was a whore and back in the early 70's chicks weren't looking for comitment they just wanted to have fun also, so if you picked up a chick with avg. looks knocked boots in the backseat and said 'later' no harm no foul............. Same here Pumpdoc! Amazing times indeed - I think mainly because it was the first time that 'wham bam thank you 'mam' became accepted/normal on both sides. As time has trundled by I think I would have some advice for my kids - that, apart from "shave down first, then up" (facial shaving, don't get excited ) , would be "shagging can easily stand in the way of a great relationship". In other words, the best are those that are your mate first, a great bonk second - if you're mates, you can always talk about the Rodgering Does she really blow you off when you're doing an oil change? Wow, I need to go and get the Kleenex...

Sadly at my age sometimes that's as long as it takes Yes I dvr every race just in case Lest we not forget that this all comes at a price, I cannot refuse her any wish But you have youth on your side (compared to some of us!!), so plenty of time for more experiences/encounters. Indeed times have changed, call me a traditionalist for marring young when I did,, but it is far better now days to wait till you are in your mid 30' to marry, if at all. Autumnpuma 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2006 Alot of wisdom has just been said in the 5 or 6 posts above. I'll add a few more tidbits..... I strongly agree with not marrying until you are at least near 30 (read '27 or above'). Get your college out of the way and your career started if you can. Don't have kids right away; enjoy being together because after you have kids, your life belongs to them . Never go to bed angry at each other when you do marry and realize that the flushed, excited feeling you have for each other when you first meet is NOT love....it's lust......and as such don't be disturbed if it diminishes a bit with age....and don't worry that you'll never have that feeling again if you break up. Lust will always happen OK, I'm not drunk enough if I can still give advice.......time for another sam adams...

Just a thought, but they say that roughly every 7 years we change fundamentally, so if that is true (certainly feels like it), then your life partner-to-be will change too - hence the "You're not the person I married" and 'Seven year itch' sayings maybe?..... Giving each other space, trust and freedom enables you to grow 'together' - kinda. Wow. Considering this thread started off as a vote for a farting machine we've got deeper than a lead filled Russian submarine. No offence to Russians, submarines or lead

Jem of the Shire 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2006 Well I got married at 21, and 1 year on I'm still very happy with my lovely wife. Annoying sometimes, but she is a woman after all so she can't help it. She cooks and cleans and always offers me petrol money so I can't complain. Whether I'll still feel like this in 50 years, god knows but I'd like to think so
