You know something, Kenneth was banned from this site for airing similar views, all be it in a more confrontational and crass manner. Know one ever wins in these race rows as we generally lean to the side that we, as individuals, have more personal experience of.

I'm black and lived in Spain for about a year and half. I found the Spanish to be very hospitable, generous and kind people. I never once felt threatened living in Spain. That said, the manner in which their football fans make monkeys chants at black footballers is weird and harks back to the dark ages. Even with the comments of Gracia, I still view the Spanish as cool people.

I think I've made my point. I do not know anyone on this forum but I could easily guess by certain overtones and inuendos that some of the folk here are obtuse racists. Being white, I am only too familiar of how and what the white man think and feel. I'm ever so grateful I rid of those commonalities a long time ago. I now feel truly liberated.

As for the racism issue...

Listen - There are racist and non-racist people in every country, of every skin colour. The key is just how people have been raised.

I count children of Pakistani, Nigerian, American, Indian, Jamaican and various European (including Spanish) parents amongst my closest friends as is common in a street like mine where we have all lived and been schooled together from childhood.

Britain has very little to be proud of (in my opinion) especially with regards to our gov / the weather / our football etc etc etc. but hey - even the 'purebred' Anglo Saxon is still a bit Anglo and a bit Saxon - we're a nation of immigrants from the very start - I'm proud to be an immigrant. People in the rift valley are the only truly non-immigrant people in the world if we're being pedantic.

The UK has a sordid history of colonial rape and pillage and SA, Australia, modern day India et al were/are very direct results of that.

Had Drake not defeated the Armada or had the Spanish beaten the British to SA, Australia or India would it have been any different? Probably not. These were not really issues of race, but rather the strong taking advantage of the weak.

They have become race issues in recent times since it was along racial lines that the most obvious advantage was being taken by the strong over the weak and because when the weak (in warring terms) were predominently non-white it is inevitable that the colonials would develop the incorrect assumption that dark skin = weakness. Since people have come to understand that that assumption is a false one, so the racist stereotypes are thankfully (little by little) falling away.

Back to Gracia - I'm sure he (a foreigner) has been treated perfectly well in the UK yet he somehow assumes that British people (as a whole) are racist - bizarre, racial stereotyping again - British = racist.

There are certainy racists in the UK, they also exist in Spain, Africa, Russia, India, Pakistan and everywhere else.

We normal folk should never let them divide us - that is their only effectie weapon and they use it well.
