Creationists Go Round And Round

If the druids science is unproven and yet he can show results then what???

??? Not sure why you think my post is full of contradictions. Point out one contradiction in it!!!

I have gone on record as saying that my interpertation of what I have read in the Bible, challenges us to seek the truth. Beware of false prophets, etc. We owe it to ourselves to challenge science, as we should challenge claims made by religious groups. I have been ridiclued for believing in that, and my faith questioned for these views by at least one member. I am fine with that. Who is he to tell me my relationship with God is flawed???? The arrogance of it makes me laugh.

Christians believe in Christ. His teachings are wise, and his miracles were witnessed by thousands. The fact that a man named Jesus walked on this planet 2000 years ago is without doubt. How much "faith" you place on him being divine is up to you. You don't have to believe in the Bible to believe in a god, but you do if you believe in The God. The bible is the measuring stick you need to use to ensure the God you believe in is Holy. Without that it is too easy to go with the flavour of the day, which quite franky, is what many people do. It is important to test what you are being told against the bible. This is how you prevent yourself from being mislead and perhaps manipulated by those that might have an alternate purpose. I think Christinaity will stand the test of time and science. Others have already failed these tests. An blantant example of this is the comet worshippers.

I think you have made the mistake of assigning your preconceived notions on what Christians are, on to me. I have no idea of what your background is or exactly what you actually know about Christianity. My advice is to to not paint all people with religion with the same brush.

A simple thing like the mechanics of water freezing has been explained to me at a molecular level. "Wow "isn't that amazing! So to take it one step further, you either have to believe we are lucky for this phenonmon to exist or is it more than luck?. IF you are happy and at peace with the "luck" explanation and don't want to look any further than that, then fine, that is your choice. For me, the more science unfolds, the more "WOW" I experience. Rather then these discoveries shaking my faith they do the opposite. How can things so complex, just happen? In my opinion, DNA strings do nothing but prove the complexity of life and the miracle of it.

I came to Christinaity through Christ and the Bible. I was not raised in a Sunday school. I had no religious beliefs stuffed down my throat as a minor. I am fully aware there are many "Christian" institutions that have it all wrong, and worse, have given Christianity a bad name. That is not my Christ, nor my interpertation of what I have read. For the record I have found Christianity since becoming a member of this forum. This is a relatively new thing for me. SO I kind of have a pretty good grasp of the "other" side to this argument.

Not sure if it was you but someone asked, "what if I am wrong?". IF I am wrong then I started to live a good Christian life that is compassionate and caring, based on the ten commandments. The rule book will have kept me whole and hopeful through my life, and I'll die with optimism and peace, as I complete the circle of life.

Now I ask the question of you. How do your beliefs prepare you for death, and what if you are wrong, and death is not the end, but only the beginning of something that we just don't have the mental capacity to comprehend ????

I don't know about you, but I can live with the fact that maybe I am wrong. How about you :D I can begin to see the importance of those without faith being "right" about this, because boy if you are not, things aren't looking too good for you. If you are right the best you can hope for is nothingness at death. If you are wrong,...well, you know the rest.I guess that is the realization I came to a few years ago. Science has done nothing and will do nothing to prove the existance of God. So we must face our mortality with this big unknown. I came to the fork in the road and decided on what path I needed to take. Forget all about everything else ,the faith in God and potential afterlife is an inspiration of hope that does not exist down the other path. Without faith there is nothing at the end but death. Sorry but that is not a great comfort to me, and that is what started me down this path. The more I read the bible the more I think , "WOW, how come I never thought about things this way before?".

Practically speaking I don't know why someone would choose to live a life without hope. I guess a younger person fills their life hope with material hope... I hope I do well, I hope I have money, I hope I can travel, etc , etc. When you get older like me and have acquired many of the things you hoped for, you are then faced with the big question.... "Now what?".

In the end I must say that since becoming a practicing Christian I have experienced some real animosity from other people. I am not sure why my faith upsets others the way it does. Very strange that my choice to follow someone so kind, and forgiving can be threatening to others???? I guess there is ignorance on both sides of the discussion. A lot of people are quick to make assumptions, based on mainstrain truths about Christianity that are basically flawed. I understand this, because I used to believe some of those "truths" myself. "Christian Churches have been some of the worst offenders of the very teachings of Christ, so the message is very mixed. It truly is unfortunate, and there is a passage in the Bible mentioning those that have mislead in the name of God will be taken to task.

Anyway, pretty deep discussion for a racing forum.

So you get bored of the new TV's, XBOX's and other crap, then say to yourself 'I need to fill the hole in my life' - so you take up religion?? I'm not trying to be a d#ck, I just don't get it.

Pro-choice!

I just thought I'd add that, I don't think we've talked about that yet in this thread.

Anyway, I don't care how we got here. We're here, deal with it. It doesn't really matter to me how I got here, it just matters to me what I've done and what I'll do while I'm here.

Penismaster drew my attention to something you had said, YHR, about living a life with no hope.

One of the most enjoyable things about humans is how we're all very different, and at the same time very equal. What works for someone may not work for someone else, but being able to understand why it works for them, why they do what they do, and being able to accept and respect it, to me, is really a great thing to be able to do, and an interesting one.

The things is, how many atheists have "no hope" (I'd replace hope with faith, personally)? I'm an atheist, but I have beliefs. I have morals, I have goals, and I have things I believe in. I believe in the power of the human race as a whole, I believe in the power of individuals, I believe in acceptance and tolerance of others, I believe in so many things I couldn't try to fit it all in. The thing is, atheism is a religion, too, just as black is considered a color. I'm really not sure if other atheists have core beliefs, but I know that I do, and I know that EVERYONE has morals. Morals guide me through life, not God. I don't need God to tell me what is right and what is wrong, I believe as humans we are all capable of making those decisions ourselves.

I'm not trying to attack your beliefs, though. Please don't take it that way. I promote acceptance and understanding of everyone, and you are no exception. I understand your beliefs, and I respect them. So I don't want you to take it the wrong way. It's a world where it's so easy to be paranoid, to take precautions, many of which are unnecessary. Sadly, most debates end up into who is right and who is wrong, and I'm sure what I say will be labeled as that, which frustrates me, since I only participate in serious discussions for understanding and out of my own interest of the subject, not to prove myself to be right and someone else to be wrong.

Trying to be a good human being is a noble cause. It is basically what Christ preaches. The power of belief should not be underestimated. It is a handy tool to have in the toolbox.

If you break us right down, we are just energy...so when the sun goes supanova your energy will be blasted into the universe, dispersed on the solar winds, mixing with other forms of energy, and once more coming to rest as something solid in a galaxy, far, far, away. ;)

I hope my testicles reach Tatooine.

Do you believe in the possibility of life outside of our planet?

There's life outside of TF1?

If "god" created us, how can it be a god? god isn't supposed to have any desires, creative or destructive. if god has desires, it's no different from us w#nkers on the earth.

Another thing that bugs me is that people continue to say that "god" is kind. There are far more unhappy people than happy people.

God have desires or better said we have desires because we were made like him in that aspect and there are a lot of unhappy people on earth just because they don't do God's will just listen to this and see how people from all around the world are changing the way they live after they found God.

http://www.unshackled.org/listen_07.html

God is available for everybody but not everybody want to find him, someone here post something like this "I am against the bible because the bible is against everything I like" people want to live in their wicked ways not knowing there is a price for everything we do, there is no happy people away from God, maybe you'll find succesful people but they are not really happy, they try to fill the emptiness they have with things like Alcohol, Drugs, ilicit sex and many other things like this and this is slowing taking them to a hole so deep that they are not going to get out there by themself, people want to deny God existence so they don't have to do what God want them to do and GOD IS SO KIND that eh let us live as we want, he let us choose want we want to do with our lives but the gave us the warnings about what will happen with we choose any of them that is what we call free will, you are the owner of you own destiny, you choose to live the good life as God want us to live or choose away from him, nobody can make you believe or change your way by force, is your choice and thoses poeple live like that becase of their own choice.

Perhaps some need God and the Bible to guide them. I view it as a sign of weakness. I believe in the power of humans. I believe we can decide how we live, we can control our lives, we can do it ourselves. I have overcome many problems and helped many overcome there's without religion. I don't see how it would help me. The Bible, I feel, is outdated. The time period it was written in and the time period we live in are totally different. I find the Bible to be oppressive, it restricts. Is there right, and is there wrong? Yes and no. There are personal rights and wrongs, but there is no real explicit right and wrong. Why should the Bible be the definitive code? Why is that one more right than any other? Morals are personal, trying to group people by morals is ridiculous. Are there out of control people in this world? Yes. Are those people the ones who contradict the Bible by being gay, participating in premarital sex, do or have done illegal drugs, drink alcohol for recreation? Hell no. There are many worse offenses in the world. And in some cultures, those offenses may not be so wrong. The thing is, if anyone can embrace God, than they should be allowed to be themselves. There shouldn't be a set of guidelines, a set of rules that they need to follow before God will embrace them back. It's an unfair system.

The thing is, many unhappy people do have faith, and vice versa. I'm an extremely happy person, I enjoy my life greatly, and I can face problems and overcome them without faith. I have faith in myself and my friends, that is what gets me through the issues.

I find it oppressive, too, to have people tell me to embrace God. I know some people have a strong faith, and believe it is their duty to spread the word of God to everyone, but no one is going to convince me. My beliefs won't change because of the majority. Belief and faith are personal, they aren't things that you need to try to make anyone else be.

I try to explain my beliefs so people can understand it, but by no means do I wish for or expect for anyone to decide to be an atheist like myself.

I don't know why you find it oppressive, i don't think they are pushing you to do it (I know that there are a lot of people in churches who do this but that's not the right way and the bible don't support taht kind of behavior) all that Christians are suppose to do is tell the people about God and they will make their own decision but for some people this is not like this and they want to force people to convert to christianity that's wrong, we don't find Jesus doing that but they feel like that's the way to go, I know about people how wuold like to go to church and don't do it because they felt oppressed the last time they went there, that is just part of the lost of misunderstanding we still have in church most of them go against the bible but they ahve been there for years and it's difficult to change them but not impossible I ahve got into a lot of truoble fighting those issues in church some people listen and some people don't many of them think they have to stick to the way they were doctrined and that is what makes it more difficult, maybe that is your case, maybe you found some people like this and that is why you find it oppressive.

I used to be an atheist too but God showed me he was real, I didn't come to him because of any problem like most of the people he just showed me he is not a myth and now I believe in him, I had a good life living as an atheist and I was what most people would call a happy person but know that I have God my life have improve a lot I am living in USA because of him and I didn't want to come here because I have a very good job in my country better than everything I've done here in USA but now I have a better overall life except for the part that I am away for from my friends and the rest of my family, since i found God my life have only improve and that is thank to him and that is what I want everybody to know God is a great help, of course you can do things on your own but I know that God's way is better than my way because he is wiser than me.

Fair enough, I can see where you're coming from.

I was Catholic when I was a young child, before I knew about any other way, when you're too young to make choices so you do as your parents tell you. The way I was taught about God and religion and things turned me away. I wouldn't completely rule out the possibility of it being presented in a different way, a more personal way, that I would believe. It just fits my personality, I think, to at this point in my life, be an atheist. I wouldn't deny the fact that in the future I may find God, but I also wouldn't guarantee that. Atheism makes sense to me today, but I'm always open to change.

That was exactly my case and I understand perfectly when you say atheism make sense to you today, it made sense to me I even asked myself how could it be possible that people don't realize there is no God? but here I am some years latter I still find sense in atheism and there are a lot of things that don't make sense in christianity but now I can't deny there is a real God like I used to do, I also must say that i didn't have that open mind you have now, I was 100% sure there was no God so in my mind there was no room for doubt I just couldn't imagine a real God anymore everything about that was just a tale to me.

You mean to say that "god" is pretty p**sed off with those who don't believe in him(her? it?) & punishes them? what sort of god is this that can't take a slight in its stride? if it has to dole out punishment, it's just like us, very vengeful. In short, it must have a pretty short fuse.

No I don't mean that, I mean there are rules that work by themselves like the one that says "what you sow you will reap" or something like that, is like when a policeman pull you over for speeding, he doesn't have to be p**sed to give you a ticket, you broke a rule and you get penalized for it, you have all the rules in the bible, you have a lot of people preachinga bout them, if you don't obey them its you're only fault, you are the one taking the decision to go your own way so when you get the result of thoses decision don't blame God for that, blame yourself for not paying attetion to what God told you to do, don't brakes the rules and get the benefits for that, God gave you free will to choose what to do, you eather go with him or against him there no middle point, here is were we need the faith to believe this or not, but anyway you can try it for yourself and see if it work or not, but be sure you following what the bible says and not what a religion says.

It is a great gift for thoses who take the benefits of it, you too can choose to take thoses benefits by living the live God wants you to live, but if you want to live you own way then you ahve a warning for that is not going to be a surprise, you are choosing to do so, it's like driving you can drive as fast as you want, car are no limited to the maximum speed limit of any highway you can still go faster but there is a warning for you if you get caught doing so, so you decide to go slower from free will knowing that you can get in trouble for that, do you blame police for that? ins't there any reason for that law to exist? certanly there is a reason and there are reason for God's law even if you like or not and if you obey man's law why can you not obey God'd law being he bigger than any man?

You refer to god as "him" . If god's a male, does it mean it has 2 balls & a dong? if so , how is it different from the male of any species? if so, how can there be a male gender existing in singularity? i mean gender is assigned only 'cos there are 2 (or more!) of it. so does it mean there's a female god? if so, does she have periods? pms?

also, plenty of good people , whether god fearing or not, have died an untimely & painful death. if you say that there's a "natural justice" system in the universe, what is the necessity for the existence of cops, courts & whatnot? let "natural justice" take care of all evil things.

I use Him because my original language is spanish and in spanish everything is a he or a she, when you talk about a ship you say "she is sinking" and "she" doesn't have periods nor pms niether she have reproductive organs, so I don't know why you are not able to understand this or why you came up wtih this, it just doesn't make much sense to me, God is a spirit and have a spiritual body, Jesus said that we are going to be like angels we are not going to have any need to reproduce or get marry, there are a lot of things that maybe beyond your understanding right now, becuase you need to know other things in order to see the whole picture.

We have courts because poeple are not following God's directions, do some research and find out about a city called Almolonga in Guatemala and see why there is no jail in that city? why it was closed the one that they had? and why that land change form arid to be the most productive land in America.

1 Timothy 1

8We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. 9We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.

The rules of the Bible are a bit different to the speed limit. Everyone knows why we have a speed limit; there are good human (that is, independent of God and the Bible), logical reasons. Are there good human reasons for all the things Christians say? Never using contraception is logical? Banning important scientific research is logical? There are only two answers: yes or no.

If yes, then there are good logical reasons for a Christian's views, and he has no need whatsoever of the Bible! If no, then his views can't be defended logically, and he is an idiot.

You refer to god as "him" . If god's a male, does it mean it has 2 balls & a dong? if so , how is it different from the male of any species? if so, how can there be a male gender existing in singularity? i mean gender is assigned only 'cos there are 2 (or more!) of it. so does it mean there's a female god? if so, does she have periods? pms?

Also, if God has a dong, what's the point of it? I mean, does the big man get any? If not, no wonder He needs a bit of whoreship worship from us.

also, plenty of good people , whether god fearing or not, have died an untimely & painful death. if you say that there's a "natural justice" system in the universe, what is the necessity for the existence of cops, courts & whatnot? let "natural justice" take care of all evil things.

I guess this bit^ was a joke.
