If

does not deserve a red card then what is the red card for? Killing the other guy with a chainsaw and eating him piece by piece in the center of the field during shabbath?

I suppose that means "champions". Congrats to the Spaniards around here and the supporters of the Spain soccer team. I understand this is a big deal for Spain aside from the world cup itself. That's cool. Enjoy.

Congrats Spain! La Furia Campeona del mundooooo! Holland was a a terrible team a didn´t deserve to play the finals. DeJong must be in jail by this time...and Van Boomen hit everything without an orange tshirt.

Thank you guys. cheers.gif

It was probably not the best final but I think there was only one team that wanted to play football tonight. I agree with you all about the referee. I don't mind a team playing a good defensive strategy, in fact I like it when they do it properly, but there's a limit that some orange players crossed during the match. The kung-fu kick to Xabi Alonso was clearly a cardR.gif , I think they wanted to intimidate the Spanish players in the first half an hour and a good referee would never tolerate such thing.

I didn't know it was so hard to win a World Cup, it tastes so sweet after so many disappointments... scarf.gif

Congratulations Spain, congratulations football. soccer.gif

Watched the game and I wasn't all that impressed with the quality of football, but there have been plenty of games in this WC that haven't quite lived up to all the hype. I wanted Spain to win before the game began, and as it developed I was even more willing for them to succeed, due to the other team's "strategy" and aggressive nature of play. I'm less eager than some to criticise the referee, I think it's a tough job and they can only judge on what they see. I always tend to think with regard to refereeing it's better to be lenient than too harsh, and the referee today was certainly lenient (or maybe just incompetent); the high kick to Alonso was surely a red though and the orange squad was lucky to survive the first 45 with 11 men.

Summing up: the best team (in quality, style, and attitude) won, so congrats to the team and to any Spaniards here who care. Also, a victory for football, cheers Iniesta.

Thanks everyone, I'm a bit calmer now than yesterday night, ahah :)

And I think it's good that Spain has something to brag about for 4 whole years, you can't exactly say that for a lot of other stuff, so...

(By the way, I doubt any of you guys saw, but the funny sight of the night was Rafael Nadal trying to get to see the team's players and trying to get past security wearing a couple of Spanish flags and with his whole face painted red and yellow XDDD)

 Nice one. Just what is FCUK, though?

Now I don't know what to do between now and ice hockey season...there's no good football on TV in the U.S. anymore (I think "FOX Soccer Channel" is up to the 2007 season of the EPL :P)! Of course, the New England Revolution are playing Pumas de la UNAM 15 minutes from here Wednesday night...and I didn't know until today. Too bad. Actually, too bad that I'm upset about missing a "North American Superliga" match when the MLS is just lame. It's hard to appreciate a league that has a team called "Real Salt Lake." Talk about such wannabes; they wanted to make the MLS look like world soccer so they have "Real Salt Lake." And the commentators even say the English "real" instead of the Spanish "real" which just makes it even more miserable. There is nothing royal about Salt Lake, and nothing particularly Spanish, either. And the way they Anglicize it anyway, it's as if there is a fake Salt Lake. :P It's just so poseur-ish.

But it's all they bother to put on TV here beyond the World Cup and other U.S. men's national football team matches, so I might make myself appreciate it.

I heard they didn't let him in for the match and he had to say, eh I'm tennis number one. Pau Gasol was just behind him, he probably laughed his head off.

The sound is awful but the first few seconds and the las minute are funny.

Hey guys - been offline for the last 10 days. First chance to say congratulations Spain!

Copngrats to me for winning a nice little sum from my two Chinese friends too. (They had Brazil and Argentina - hah!)

Totally deserved win. Spain are the best team in the world right now so its quite right that they are world champions.

Bravo.
