Grabthaw the Hammerslayer 4 Report post Posted November 22, 2009 I've just been sitting here in my front room with my little acoustic, Insomnia by Faithless blaring out of my stereo, making the coolest little riffs. Well happy! Oh. I play and sing. But not in a band. This is one of the reasons I've gone off the X factor. Its people singing other peoples songs. Manufactured rubbish. What about the kid that sits at home with raw talent and can't get a break for all these 'Jedward' twats clogging the charts. Makes me sick. End of rant. Never watch it. Can't stand X-Factor. Interesting when you don't watch it to see how far it has embedded/infected our culture. But I do think that real talent will always get there if the person has enough will power. Jez 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2009 I saw Pearl Jam perform live yesterday at the Sydney football stadium. What a great show! I swear they look younger than ever, and their performance was stellar. The sounds was great considering the size of the venue. Very impressed. Any Pearl Jam fans amongst us? Jenson_Rules 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 I love X Factor, but probably for the wrong reasons, I watch it mainly for the judges comments, not the performers themselves. No one this year sticks out as a popstar in the making. However, Alexandra who won last year is quite literally AMAZING!

I loved Eddie Vedder. Now you've reminded me, I'll go to iTunes and download a few of their songs. Spin The Black Circle and Unthought Known being the first! Cheers Jez, memory lane time! dribbler 6 Report post Posted December 9, 2009 Got introduced to Lemon Jelly by a friend at the weekend. Said friend got punched for not playing them to me sooner. Electronica with catchy riffs, break beats and wit. Personal fave at the moment is 'Page One' from their 'KY' album. Adorable an addictively uplifting piano chord shift allied to banging beat. Plain lyrics describe a world with no material gain and asks us to imagine a time when there was absolutely nothing. Not a new concept but its one that goes beautifully with the tune. It has been playing on repeat in my head, consistently now since Saturday. I love how a tune can end up being a soundtrack for an event in your mind. A bit like how certain smells can trigger a memory. That reminds me, must open the bathroom window..........

cavallino 2 Report post Posted December 22, 2009 God created the world in a week, it kinda sucked, then one day a band called The Stone Roses formed and everything was just fine. I think I love them. For your enjoyment (but mostly mine): You posted stone roses links on my birthday! I love you I bludgeon people to death for saying that their eponymous album is not the best album ever. Anyone? Good, we're all in agreement then.

Quiet One 15 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 Nah, that was just me doing a lame joke about my age. Yes, they are an old band I recall dancing to Zobi La Mouche at almost every party. They were halfway between Kusturica and Mano Negra. A good band indeed.
