stopkidding 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Wurz is easily one of the most intelligent persons on the grid. He's a daredevil with a penchant for extreme sports and won't hesitate to draw blood in a GP. I rate Wurz and expect to see him shine. wurz is a more complete driver, nico is quick but green. I see them giving each other a good fight throughout the season, but generally wurz would prevail. Nico is still quite young and he has talent (still holding onto to this GP2 championship winning credentials) but if he doesn't step up and mature soon enough, he would be discarded like klein (another quick driver who couldn't step up to the challenge). The test of F1 is not if you are quick (thats only a criterion for lesser championship), a true F1 racer should be quick and strong (mentally and technically) to make an impact... wow too many parantheses! stopkidding 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 I guess what I meant was that Nico is so much smarter than Speed that he'd use more complex insults than Speed did to DC! oh yes, if anything, nico is one of the smarter young drivers out there. his interviews are pretty impressive especially when he is talking about car set ups and technical matters, he needs to stop making those disasterous errors in the races though... Jem of the Shire 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Nico's english is amazing, he doesnt even sound german at all. I've always said, since 1998, that Wurz is nothing special
JayStorm 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Well, we all saw how Fisi demolished him. And the whole 'Odd shoes' didn't give him much luck.

Kay 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Driver 8: Nico Rosberg Height: 178cm Weight: 69kg Teammate: Alexander Wurz Races : 18 Victories : 0 Podiums : 0 Pole positions : 0 Fastest Laps : 1 Points : 4 Races finished in points : 2 2005 saw Nico Rosberg take the GP2 series title alongside being a Williams' test driver, a team, which was clearly impressed by Rosberg's achievements to date. He took a departing Nick Heidfeld's Williams race seat for 2006 that saw him partnering the much more experienced Mark Webber. Rosberg's first race saw him baptised in a ball of fire and expectations flew sky high. Many believed that the 2006 season would see an end to Webber's already damaged Formula One campaign, which at the time, after setting many fast - including the fastest - laps of the race didn't seem too strange. However, only at Europe did Rosberg shine nearly as bright as he had done in Bahrain and with Webber's experience of handling 'bad' handling cars he hammered home his superiority on the track, but always had a good word for Rosberg who he believed had huge potential; other drivers who have praised Rosberg include Button, perhaps out of guilt that he should have taken that seat. 2007 sees Nico lined up against Wurz, who arguably has much more experience at the hands of a Formula One car, but Nico has the bonus of having just done a full season's racing. With the Toyota engine, hopefully Rosberg will be able to do much more running than he managed last year, where he spent any laps he could learning the track rather than setting the car up; meaning he had to rely on Webber's setups a fair few times. (Sorry for the length, this is a driver I know much more about. )

Agree 100%, especially with your last sentence about being quick and strong!! Nico's english is amazing, he doesnt even sound german at all. I've always said, since 1998, that Wurz is nothing special You'll soon be saying you were wrong!! EDIT: On Nico....I'm neutral. I don't really have an opinion that's any different from stopkidding's and kay's.
Quiet One 15 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Nothing personal against Nico either, except some interviews which I didn't like. Its' just that I like underdogs, and even if everybody praises Wurz, I feel like WUrz is the underdog here, and he always was.
aussief1 4 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Nico puzzled be last year, round one in Bahrain he came out and drove a fantastic race to come from what was effectively last after the first corner alteration where he damaged his front wing then set the fastest lap, and finished a well deserved 7th. Then came all the talk saying that Nico would wipe the floor with MW and Ron Dennis was trying to poach him and the rest of the hype. Then came the rest of the season where he never quite lived up to his reputation that he had set for himself after the Stella debut in Bahrain. I was rather annoyed with him in Brazil firstly by taking out MW and then smacking the wall like a b!oody idiot with no front wing, come on Nico wakey wakey hand off snakey the thing has no front wing she sure is not going to go around the final corner and into the pit lane at normal speed is it???? I also felt so sorry for the Cosworth boys who really deserved to go out on a high after so many dedicated years in the game. Nico will struggle against AW as soon as AW is fully race prepared after a long absence from wheel to wheel racing.
Autumnpuma 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 I have heard from a member here (Antonia, I think) that Nico was having difficulties with the physical aspects of driving. I think that sounds pretty logical...I would imagine the stress of testing, sponsor appearances and racing over a span of many months would be more tiring to a rookie than a veteran. I expect the 2nd years on the grid to show what they are made of this year, now that they should have a season to sort out the 'rhythm' of it all.
Kay 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Well the last couple of drivers seems to have sparked a similarity in views... Mark Webber's next so that is set to change. I could write pages.
JayStorm 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Hmm, Nico is a tough one. I suppose we could compare him to JV, only Jacques was pretty amazing all season whereas Nico dropped off a lot. I think we'll see him improve significantly but it may be hard to tell as I don't expect the Williams to be much use.
pumpdoc 2 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Nico impressed me in his first race, then it was all downhill after that, because of that I rate him the same as Scott Speed, it's put up or shut up time...........
Kay 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Driver 9: Mark Webber Height: 184cm Weight: 74kg Teammate: David Coulthard Races : 87 Victories : 0 Podiums : 1 Pole positions : 0 Fastest Laps : 0 Points : 69 Races finished in points : 25 Alike to the Nico Rosberg, Mark Webber's Formula One debut in Australia 2002 was in a blaze of glory. He scored two points for the struggling Minardi team in his home race and became an instant hit, however the rest of the season was a hard push and no more points were scored; but his performance in Monaco caught the attention of Jaguar, who snapped him up for 2003. He showed true dominance on the track, scoring all but one (17) of the points Jaguar had by the end of the season, but in 2004, he struggled and any limelight he had soon disappeared and Jaguar announced they were selling up. When he signed for Williams, he believed that is where he would end his career and clearly had been promised a car with good performance; but it was not to be. Partly down to Williams, and partly down - by his own admisson - his inability to get used to the one race tyre rule, he suffered and Nick looked the more consistant of the two. 2006 dawned and this was a much better season for Webber's reputation (Note: the one race tyre rule had gone!), but the car was even worse than the previous year; again he shone at Monaco, where for a short period of time - before his car expired - Webber was fighting for the win. After a troubled season, Webber decided to heed his manager's advice and move away from Williams, the departure wasn't the cleaniest, but Williams had many a kind word for Webber. This year sees him moving to Red Bull (formly Jaguar) to partner David Coulthard and for many this is the make and break year for both involved. Many are often critical of Webber's attitude, although more in written interviews, than interviews on television, he's honest and not afraid to speak his mind on any subject. This year will be interesting.
pumpdoc 2 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Kay, thanks again your effort is top notch Now to Webbo Sorry but he's a whingie git, his move to RBR will seal his fate, he should've made the move to Reno when he had the chance, if rumours are true.......... B.P. 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Call me biased but I think Mark is one of the most underated drivers around. His results don't show his true potential. I just wish Red Bull can give him a competative car. Should be a good contest with DC at Red Bull, with MW taking the honours.
Quiet One 15 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 I have a totally irrational bias towards Webbo, he has shown nothing else to make him better than Button, for example, nor he is specially charismatic in his appearances. Yet, I do think he could really shine in a better car. Of course, his career managing needs lots of improving. Still...I'd rather see him beating DC than the other way around. goferrarigo 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Nico impressed me in his first race, then it was all downhill after that, because of that I rate him the same as Scott Speed, it's put up or shut up time........... +1 Agreed. After teh first race i was thinking he is a good propect but as the season went on he should he wasn't as good as we was in the first race. Webber has, IMO, his last year to impress some one if he can't i think he will get the boot. Can someone confirm that he has a one year with option of his red bll contract

Kay 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 I'll try and find it... on my travels so far I have found this gem The less than happy Williams time is behind you. Do you feel it is a whole new beginning now? MW: Yes. I am refreshed, and different at home apparently! I am excited. The feeling in the team it is good, it is healthy, and there is a lot of just general excitement. Everyone has got a spring in their step, which is good. It is an exciting, young team
