"moving" Ferrari Floor Under Scrutiny From Rivals

Recommended Posts

Mclaren is still a bloody good car and if Alonso is really the "great" driver as his fans claim then he will take the fight to Ferrari and Kimi. Schumacher won his first title with benetton and Ferrari with non-dominant cars of the field. If Alonso can take the fight to the last race in this mclaren then he is truly a legend. if not, he is just a good driver making the most of the great renault package!

Yeah, Renault is showing how great is its package without FA (notice Fisi is being just as competitive as he used to be :naughty: )

Are you going to tell us Renault was the dominant car the last two years? I don

In that respect Alonso reminds me alot of Prost. He is his fastest with a perfect car, he can be not quite fast enough with an imperfect car but instead of throwing it off the road like most other drivers he brings it home with numbers attached to it. Thats why he already a 2x world champion. Thats why will be a great, contrary to what others say.

Which video did you see??Where did Hill even got alongside MS??You actually saw him passing MS,turning in the corner and MS turning in on him  ??This is getting us nowhere...

I was just about asking the same, some people here really need glasses.

About the moving floors, I found a litlle weird that Ferrari, BMW and Renault had the same idea about the moving floor, I already read about Ferrari and BMW and somebody here said that Renault is going to test it in Malasya, wich means that they were already thinking about it, so how ilegal is this device that three teams were working on it at the same time?

Probably RD is just trying to get it banned because he knows that BMW and Renault eventually will be ahead of them with this Moving Floor.

Anyone who is not a biased Ferrari fan can quiet clearly see that Schumacher cuts across hill

What I can see in that video is DH doing an stupid move, ms had a slower car, a car that just hit a wall and got out the track, a car that came in with the tyres dirty, he got plenty of time to do a better move, MS was just keeping his car in the ideal line and that was a complete legal move because he was in front, he never left the line where he was supose to be to hit DH was DH the one who was out of place, he was a the wrong place in the wrong moment, and he paid for his mistake. Dh was never a great driver he was just a driver who got the luck to be in the best team and that is why you see that even when he was there for several years he only managed to get only one championship.

I believe in that thread I posted one of the pages has the Ferrari pic..possibly page 1 or 2.

Yeah, I seem to remember MS doing that as well with his right hand and it's generally accepted that he was adjusting the brake bias. Kimi is likely doing the same thing. For the theory to be plausible that Kimi is activating a floor-lowering mechanism, I'm not sure how you could tell that from a standard brake bias adjustment....I suppose you could watch the in-car and see if Kimi adjusts something at the start of a straight or at the start of a turn..the straight could mean a floor lowering moment and the turn could mean brake bias.

Cool, thanks Autumn.

Im still not convinced about the floor being forced downward, but there is a large amount of ballast (usually tungsten steel) in the floor toung or splitter.

This could also be a device for damping the impact of the kerbs so that the floor doesn't break, or worse damage the chassis.

Yeah, that's the theory. From what I can find out, a device like this is pretty common to absorb the impact of the kurbing but I think McRon is putting out there that the little device isn't simply a spring that enables an upwards motion. He's suggesting that it could push downwards to lower the splitter. The most likely way is with a magnetic device, but that device would need some visible wires connecting to it that the FIA scrutineeers would have seen upon inspection, right?

Another possibility is that the device lowers in response to greater air velocity on the straights. This would seem to be easy to check for, I would think. As the air velocity decreases under braking for the entry to a turn, the splitter goes back to it's original position and the front wing gains back it's downforce capabilities for the turn. A wacky theory of mine to be sure, but it sounds possible, no?

This isn't the place for this debate, but the move was sloppy on MS' part. Debate his intentions as you like, but the move was sloppy. Concerning the video, we see MS going off-track then getting back on again, clearly cutting in front of Hill to get back to the racing line. This was his first mistake (6 seconds into the video). MS knows Hill is right there because you can see him jink his wheel in response to Hill being right on his rear wing.

At the 9 second mark of the video Hill has went cleanly up the inside of MS and was right alongside MS. To think MS didn't know Hill was there would be absurd. The correct form here would be for MS to allow room for Hill to execute the pass. I believe this was a violation of the rules even back then.

10 seconds into the video, you see MS refuse to give Hill room despite Hill already being alongside him. The result is MS being launched by Hill's front tyre.

This is a 100% accurate description of the video. I'm sorry to sound so sure of myself, but there it is.

Its feasable.

I have had a good look and I'm largely convinced that the BMW system is for damping impacts.

Adelaide 1994; a mistake by Michael Schumacher and a clear illustration of the flaw in this genius. There, if i can say it why can't other fans?

Mike's description is not his opinion, it's a factual account.

However, luckily for me, i don't follow the fashion of remembering Michael for this or any of his other dubious activities.

Cutting across someone you know is there, despite the fact you know your own car is busted

Interesting mistake :eusa_think:

And its nothing about fasion, it is quiet simple. I despise cheats

You have taken quite a defensive line on something i thought i was being quite submissive about. All i was trying to say is that the man had a flaw, a chink in his armour. He could be overly defensive. His desire to win ruled his mind on occasion. Surely it can be classed as a mistake? making an error of judgement?

And if you don't concede that it's fashionable to slate Michael for his on track activities then you haven't been reading enough of the forums.

That mistake was made at an early part of MS' career and doesn't erase any of the fantastic drives he has made or the records he has broken in his career. I may not like MS as much as you, Steve, but I'll give the guy his due. Besides, in his battles with Hill I was always rooting for MS :D

It was a bad time for me, had to root for DH, which has the charisma of a Communist Party Commisar in the USSR.

My view is that MS deliberately took Hill out. And good for him - even though I supported Hill at the time. I like all of MS's bending of the rules.

Probably he did, but it was not the end of the race so Hill chose the wrong moment to make his move and that is a mistake, he was so clearly superior at that time that he could pass MS in any other moment and that is why I see this as a racing incident because they both are to be blame for this.

I actually noticed how good MS was when rest of the world were screaming about his antics after that car parking incident. Of all them, I was really impressed with the drive through incident..That was too brilliant, I wonder if it was his own discession! :clap3::clap3::clap3:

I just looked at the links you posted, I wonder how it can give a car better top speed when it is lowered. When it lifts shouldnt that give the car an upward thrust and reduce the downforce slightly and give it more top speed? I dont understand how it can give more grip in the corners when the front part of the floor lifts!

Its just a doubt i have mate. Do feel free to correct me.

It doesnt have to be a manually controlled, it may be even speed sensitive, how ever, the insiders know the best!
