 Don't think a few limp-wristed pretty boys are going to threaten my masculinity young lady. :P Real masculinity is found in leadership, confidence and moral fibre, not in the vanity of a photo shoot. I can only assume there are no real men left in Australia to show you this!

*******************************************

"And thus, ladies and gentlemen of the audience, we exhibit the call-and-response mating behaviour of the modern Australian female. As shown in the post above, scientifically known as Homo Sapiens Sheila, the female will initiate a verbal test for her prey, which in the Wild of Australia would be a Homo Boganus Boganus, but in this case was replaced, so as to learn more about the Homo Sapiens Sheilas' confusing behaviour patterns, by a real man. Back in the Wild, now bereft of the masculine dominance she instinctively craves, Homo Sapiens Sheila is left floundering in a sea of self-created clich

That, my dear Homo Sapiens Smart-Arse, is very clever. :clap3::lol:

Whilst on the subject of primal instinct and predatory action, my Mum went ape s##t at the provision of such a feast! The salivatory response you sought to highlight your antiquated philosophy may have missed the target but was much appreciated by the elder generation of Homo Sapiens Sheila.

Perhaps the Homo Sapiens Smart-Arse has through the development of what is clearly a large brain, devolved his physical attributes and thus not benefitted from the female attention they undoubtedly attract??? :mf_tongue::lol:

 Cheers! So why doesn't your Mum post here? She can't take my porn without thanking me in person. That's just downright dirty. :P

On the subject of physical attributes I have another theory for you. You see, physical attributes don't generate much of the attraction imho for women to men (clearly the reverse is true for men to women). The attraction makes you enjoy the body, rather than the body causing the attraction. In other words you have to already be attracted to the person for other reasons. This is why fan fiction type porn is much more successful than visual porn for women, because the emotions are what cause the attraction, rather than visual cues. And in so far as visual cues do much for women, it's always because they cause certain impressions and emotions: muscular, tall men seem dominant to the women, generally speaking! Hence the attraction, and only then do you enjoy the physical attributes directly.

Btw I think deep down you've understood this all along. I mean first you worked hard to establish how impressive my brain was, and now that we know, you're becoming suddenly curious about my more "physical attributes".:P The attraction to my intense and challenging masculine charm is taking root according to my cunning plan, Jmelee. *evil laugh* I'm almost ready to have my Homo Sapiens Smart-Arse way with you. *really evil laugh*

Anyway what do you think of my theory? This can be its peer review.

What can a girl say to that? :eusa_think: thank god England is a long way away from Australia :D

The theory of attraction to person before body perhaps has some merit, however I ask to what is the original attraction? What makes person A notice person B and then want to make contact with B?

These two strangers cannot converse until they make contact, therefore there must be some underlying factor that causes them to seek to make contact. This making of contact is caused by an attraction to the physical attributes of the other. This attraction is solely physical.

I suggest a little experiment, when next you are out take notice to which ppl your eyes go to first (in a good way not the OMG what is that way?), this is the initial physical attraction.

In conclusion, whilst the theory is well articulated I feel that is needs a little more research. My theory is that if there was not an initial physical attraction causing the parties to want to meet then an attraction to the personality and character of a person cannot be fostered because no meeting will occur. Unless the meeting is one forced upon the individuals in which instance the initial attraction is not needed because conversation has been facilitated through other means.

My mum has better things to do with her time, but she thanks you greatly.

I agree, consider this inane line of rhetoric discontinued on my behalf.

 A lucky escape perhaps...

Of course, you are basically right here. People can become attractive in a very short space of time though, through their behaviour, I think, especially men to women. The classic example would be a gallant knight sweeping a fair maiden to safety, but I'm sure there are more realistic examples today.

In conclusion, whilst the theory is well articulated I feel that is needs a little more research. Again I think you are right. But generally it is the man who approaches the woman, and the man's response is largely a visual/physical one, whereas the woman in general probably won't be as strongly attracted to the man at the beginning, because her response is more emotional and situational, I think.

My mum has better things to do with her time, but she thanks you greatly.

Better than the cut and thrust of TF1? Anyway it was of course only a joke. ;) She is very welcome!

I agree, consider this inane line of rhetoric discontinued on my behalf.

OK me too then, but I think it's quite an interesting subject. Maybe another time and place...

Hi guys,

Glad to join the fray. Big F1 fan here. My genome dictates that my unfailing loyalties must lie with my pasta devouring brethren at Scuderia Ferrari (although I haven't quite warmed up to Kimi yet). However, I must say that I am a fan of any driver that brings passion to the sport and delivers excitement to the races - i.e. Hamilton is quite OK in my book!

Salute!

*mumbles something about another bloody ferrari fan joining the forum*

Ahem, welcome!

Nice interests you posted in your profile (at first I read "astrology" instead of "atsronomy" and almost had a stroke!) I think you will get along fine with us, specially with Murray Walker (the original, not the impersonator you watch on TV). You will find we are all a bunch of freaks, and you know what? I love it being that way!

BTW I think it's time for someone else to do a guide to our most representative members! I did one once, albeit uncomplete and incorrect as I've been here for not too long at the time. Somebody make an updated version!

Ah yes indeed! Great to see another fan of astronomy and physics. We are gradually building up a collection now amongst the regular posters with me, Cav, Elgo and James(?) and probably some more that I don't know about? Welcome Minchia!

Welcome newcomers and if I may offer a word of advice, grow some thick skin. You may need it around here.
