Minardi had some good cash coming in through their pay drivers while at SAF1, Honda want Anthony in the race seat and not a pay driver like Narain. Tricky situation indeed.

Anyway back to the testing times they look as confusing as ever but never fear Melbourne is just around the corner (well sort of) :D

Free engines though, Honda would probably pay the driver wages as well.

Then about the big fine McLaren got last year. Initially it was supposed to be paid by the end of February, but now McLaren has got with Bernie's help more time for it and can pay it in parts.

Interesting, I like the amount of influence Bernie holds.

How did Nakajima do 33 laps and still set no time???

Williams did about 40 odd pit stop practices :D

Free engines though, Honda would probably pay the driver wages as well.

- Badoer yesterday: ''We're working non-stop because there are some problems to be solved and we have to do it quickly. People say we're the big favourites but you can never be sure. In terms of performance we have a small advantage, that's true.''

Massa yesterday: ''A good feeling but we don't push to the limit, the test (in difficult circumstances) doesn't bring results we can rely on.''

- Today, in the afternoon Massa was mainly doing stints of around 12 laps, altering the aeroynamic set-up all time. At some stage he had to come into the pitbox because there was some 'suspicious' smoke coming from his engine. In the end I don't think it was a problem.

- An hour before the end Alonso's Renault stopped with a gearbox problem.

Massa interview on TS after yesterday's tests:

- I'm in form, the car is in form and the whole team is in form. Today the lap times were not important. We were able to run all the programs and we are exactly where we hoped to be with the updates to the car. This car is ready for the world championship battle, Massa declared.

According to Massa the new aero package gives it 0.2s over the previous version.

-But we will not rest on our laurels, we are improving every day. As soon as I get new parts into the car I forget they are new and want even more new parts.

Friday is a very important test day for Ferrari as it will do a complete race simulation with both drivers, Badoer standing in for a sick Raikkonen.

-I will surely win that race, Massa laughs, but the most imprtant target is to complete the race. The main point is to ensure the reliability of the car.

Massa says that on a dry track he does not anymore notice the absence of TC.

- I'm sure that we are faster than last year. Only during rain will there be surprises, as suddenly you notice you are a passanger and not a driver.

According to www.F1total.com Schumacher and Raikkonen will both be out on track on monday, but it says comparisons can't really be made as they will be testing different parts of the F2008 programme.

Costa: "It was a good working day today"

It was a good working day today, even if it wasn't perfect. The gearbox of Luca's car leaked oil so he had to stop, while everything was fine with Felipe's car. That means, that we still have some work to do to be ready for the race in Melbourne: it's enough that a detail is not right to destroy the whole race. We are quite satisfied as far as the performance is concerned, but it's impossible to say where we stand compared to the others. We've used the track alone today so we don't have realistic lap times. Next week we have another three test days here at Barcelona. Also Schumacher wil be here for one day: it's important to be able to count on his help as a test driver.

In qualifying Massa did a 1:20.508, in therace his best time was a 1:21.44. He completed the race simulation succesfully doing 65 laps. Badoer had to abort his race 15 laps before the end.

I know I shouldn't look to much into the practise times, but I have been quite impressed with Red Bulls times. They seem to be consistently clocking times in the top 5. Hope it continues into the season.

The 1:20.508 by Massa was set in Q2, Badoer's best time in Q2 was a 1:21.808.

Bridgestone brought one type of the tyre to the track: the hard one. But during the race the times went down quickly. Last year Massa's fastest lap was a 1:22.680, yesterday this 'wall' was beaten after just 7 laps. During the 65 lap race Massa was 41 times faster than the best laptime last year (indeed also doing a handful of slow laps because they were simulating a SC situation).

His first stint was 13 laps (best time 1:21.65). In the last stint he set the new record twice in two consecutive laps, eventually ending at 1:21.44.

Massa didn't say much but his smile was an obvious sign: ''I've gone very strongly, it's gone very well.''

Costa about Badoer's problem: ''It should be an easy problem to fix.''

On the aerodynamics: ''The numbers we expected from the aerodynamics are confirmed, there hasn't been any negative surprise and this will be the configuration we bring to Melbourne. But at the same time we cannot be 100% satisfied looking at what happened to Badoer. We have to take care of the reliability to make ourselves ready for Australia.''
