I rate heidfeld more than Kimi, he may not have the speed or aggression to match, but he did beat kimi in sauber and hes a nicer guy and drives very very well indeed! Im sure he would be much more of a match for kimi than montoya! To be honest when we rate drivers its very diffficult as their machinery is all different so it would be interesting to see a race where they are all in an identical car! Then we will really see who is the best!

also Cav i know i do hate MS as do many but none of us deny he is one of the best ever drivers!

That's not the issue here though, the fact that Kimi was not better than Nick when he got the Mclaren drive coupled with the fact that Nick was contracted for a McLaren drive make me believe nick deserved the drive moreso than Kimi.

You have to use the benefit of hindsight when you have it. I would have agreed in 2002, but I don't believe he would have done any better than KR has done at Mclaren. I don't believe the car breaker theory.

you only say that because kimi has been in a FAR quicker car for the past 4 years and has had chance to prove himself. Nick has not. You have to have a "car ballast" and not just judge it on the way things are now...

that's a fair call, but DC would probably not have raced for Williams had Senna not crashed, and maybe not even for McLaren. Same goes for Villeneuve, and I doubt Hill would have won his World Championship had he been paired with Senna in '96.

Welcome to the forums Girl Racer. Obviously I disagree with you re. JV. The 1997 car was an evolution of the '96 car, hence since Jacques was partnered with Hill in '96 I'd say that Jacques had a fair bit of input into the car, although I acknowledge Hill is credited as a very good tester who was very good at feedback and the like, as is Jacques, most definitely moreso than in his Williams days purely through experience. Jacques often says he learnt alot from Hill.
