WTF is this Sh#t?

A fusion of delicious lyrics, wonderful singing, and fantastic dancing.

It's been trending all over the Internet recently. When I first saw it, I figured it was just some quality trolling...evidently, it's real. She's 13 and the record company believe she's the next big pop star. Just goes to show that even with Auto-Tune, you still need to have some talent and a decent voice.

Saying "I'm too old for this" never felt better.

Hey now, even the 37-year-old (wild guess at your age), donkey-riding male demographic gotta have their bowl, gotta have cereal.

I'm 40...HAH! :eusa_think:

Anyways, kiddo (always wanted to use that word), here's something you missed just because you weren't born in the 70s. Even if not exactly a music video...I think it's a wonderful postcard of those marvelous years, the 80s!

Oh, the glamour!

I was looking through my mum's old vinyl collection earlier. Man she had awful musical taste! But there were a couple of gems in there I remember from my childhood.

The first wasn't actually my mum's. It belonged to my nan (mum's mum). It was an old Chas n Dave EP titled "Run Rabbit Run" absolutely loved that as a kid. The second was my nan's too:- Flanagan & Allen. Absolute class!

Most of my mother's musical choices were 70's soul and motown. Billy Ocean, Boney M, Diana Ross, Ike & Tina Turner etc. Then I got to the good stuff such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Martha Wash etc. And some that should be forgotten such as Col. Abrams, Sister Sledge, Milli Vanilli, Five Star, and even -cringe- Sinitta. But listening to it all, I had happy memories of my Mum and it was good to feel that she wasn't just Mum. She was a woman in her own right, who was fun and young once and had lots of friends and went out on the weekends. She had boyfriends before she met my Dad and even after she met Dad and had us, she was always the life and soul. I don't mean this in a up-my-own-arse type way, but I take after her in so many ways. I never saw it before.

Yes. Even after we die, music can make parts of our personality live on forever. My mum was soul. She was motown. She was cheesy 80s funkpop.

She was cheesy 80s funkpop.

Lately I've been going back to that era, also with the early 80's rock. Cheesy or not, it brings back the best memories. It's like mental pictures taken of a time when life was almost perfect....

I feel so sad with Amy Winehouse's passing, I loved her music. What makes it worse is the demons she was fighting, and losing the battle. Another talent wasted...

Only the good die young, May she RIP...

Does anyone in the U.S., U.K., Netherlands, some other European countries I can't recall (it may be Spain, France, Portugal?)...want an invite to the free version of Spotify? I have something like eight left.

Recently saw the movie "Hanna". Its soundtrack, by The Chemical Brothers, is mindblowing. This one is my favourite.

I don´t like it. it sounds like about zillion of electronic songs....

Been listening to a lot of Captain Beefheart recently. He's fcuking awesome! I think my favourite tracks so far are "Safe as Milk" and "Rock n Roll's Evil Doll" though for a nice tempo calming change, "Bluejeans & Moonbeams" does the trick. For me, anyhow.

The whole of 'Trout mask Replica' by Beefheart is worth a listen - if for nothing more than to remind us all what kind of 'far out' stuff he was doing. Him and Zappa worked very closely together. As far as that collaboration goes 'Willie The Pimp' from Zappa's 'Hot Rats' album is mighty.

Anyhoo, as for my Beefheart pick - try 'Ella Guru'. Funny and surreal.

much better but still far from my taste. I agree with Focus: it´s a gem!

Is there any electronica you enjoy? As a lover of Progressive Rock that I know you are, I would be fascinated to know. Whilst you're giving it some thought, have a listen to this and tell me what you think...
