I just can't understand the results from this poll. Though since their debut in F1, KR has been in a (a priori) better team than FA (KR started on Sauber and then 5 years in McLaren while FA started in Minardi, one year blank being test driver, and then 4 years with Renault) Let's look at some facts:

GPs: 105 KR vs 88 FA

Points: 345 KR vs 385 FA; Points / GP: 3.29 KR vs 4.38 FA

Wins: 9 KR vs 15 FA; Wins / GP: 8,6% KR vs 17.0% FA

Poles: 11 KR vs 15 FA; Poles / GP: 10.5% KR vs 17.0% FA

Podiums: 36 KR vs 37 FA; Podiums / GP: 34.3% KR vs 42.0% FA

Besides the not very significant facts that FA is 2 times WDC, and holds a number of records like youngest ever to make a pole, reach a podium, win a race, win a WDC... etc. and has beaten, over a whole season, in the last two years, both KR and MS...

Facts say you would be a really lousy team boss if you'd choose KR over FA...

PS: Though I've been reading this forum for a while now, this is my first post (please be kind ;) )

Alonso isent as marketable...simple as that.

Geez I don't see where is the trick with this poll: Fernando with my eyes closed!

Won't even bother to comment on the constant whinning from MS fans about FA being a whiner :P

I know he has no charisma but neither did Prost...would you have turned down a chance to hire Prost because he has no charisma? Not a smart move, I think.

No need to defend Raikkonen, I know he is one of the best drivers around when his car does not let him down. I just think that Fernando is better. Numbers are on my side, this time. :D

Raikonnen for me. Given a reliable car and a quick one he would win!

Alonso for me. He is just as fast, more reliable, and has a better work ethic and attitude...

you are damn right!

but, alonso's car was fast when he needed to be, and it was reliable enough when he needed it to be.

but for kimi, his car was fast but not reliable,. when it was relaible it wasnt fast enough, not his fault!

ferrari has started breaking up even before he has driven it!

Alonso isent as marketable...simple as that.

what do you mean by that?

I hope Ron dosent get the PR department working overtime to try and give Alonso a nick name like they did with Kimi

Kimi was called Iceman because of his laid back demeanor and calculating race strategies, 2 points that's not marketable.....don't worry. Alonso won't have anything to impress upon but sponsor money (which makes him again a good vessel for marketing).....

edit: oh, he's world champion too, more points for marketing, the right tick boxes are too numerous to ignore

I would have to agree. Whilst i want to say Kimi because i believe he is quicker, Fernando is seemingly more rounded. Maybe when gets the security of a car which is fast and reliable it will allow him to calm down a bit and look at the bigger picture during races instead of ringing its neck all the time.

Agreed, although their pure speed is hard to tell. I doubt there's much, if anything, in it between them.

Actually I don't see evidence that either is unbeatable. There may be another talent around the corner with a better work ethic and just as much talent. Maybe Hamilton, maybe Kubica...

We are talking from fan's not businesses.

Oh and McLaren went out of there way to give him a nick name that would get the kiddies attention over Schumacher.

Such a shame Kimi ran off to Ferrari :(

Hamilton in particular seems to have incredible discipline but i wonder if that is because we have seen his climb up the ranks quite publicly. I want to see him on the grid next year. The key areas for scrutiny for me will be how quickly it will take him to get up to Fernando, whether he is mentally and physically strong enough to endure a season and how he can adapt literally to the differences of a Formula One car.

Kubica is an unknown quantity to me. He is obviously very talented but has a worse looking nose than even mine. I didn't think this was possible. He is probably hoping for success early to pay for the surgery bills.

 Yeah well I think soon he'll be able to change his nose however he likes! You're right that they are both relatively unknown right now but there's a lot of talent coming through and I don't think Fernando or Kimi are safe at the top of F1. Its sad comparing their work ethic to that of Michael.

Being marketed to fan's....?

I'd be more inclined to say being layed back is more refering to him being lazy btw, PR spin ;)

Luca di Montezemolo has said, that Kimi can keep on partying and drinking in Ferrari!

So I guess there will be no adaptation problems for him... :clap3:

kimi all the way, i didn't like alonso winning when he was not winning not very good for motivation in the team. Alonso and kimi are on thier own level and out of them Kimi is better , th stats showed earier are scewed as Kimi did not have a car to even win one race this year and alsono had one, i don't even think kimi came on pole this season so...

More facts:

-The stats are still favorable to FA even if you take away this season

-From 2001 to 2005 (with the exception of 2002 when FA was only test driver for Renault) KR had 21 DNF's vs FA's 20

-While in McLaren, in the period 2002-2006, KR has had more than double the number of engine's broken than his team mates (DC, JPM and DLR): 13 vs 6. Maybe, and this is just an opinion, his "maximum attack" style in many races, making best laps at the end of races where he wasn't even fighting for a position, and with an engine that had to last for another GP... has had something to do with it....

-From 2003 to 2006 in Renault, FA's has only been involved in 3 accidents or collisions. In those same years KR's has had 7.

You just can't blame luck to explain the difference between this two drivers. Luck may have an impact on the short term, when you talk about 1, 2, 3 even 10 GP's. But not when you look at a 5 years career. And anyway if somebody is very unlucky, always, he either may have something to do with it or he is just not that good.

I truly believe FA is a better F1 driver than KR and think he would have a better record if they had switched their careers. I know FA is not very popular, and most of you are either Ferrari or McLaren fans or wahtever and that many of you don't like him or what he says or how he acts away from the track. But I think this shouldn't lead you away from the fact that he is far better pilot than KR and has proven it.
