Jenson_Rules 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2009 That's fine, Chris. Emma seems nourished just nicely (apparently, so I'm told, there are some nice pictures of her in the sleeve notes of her solo album which show just how nourished she is). Looking at her it makes me want to force feed Girls Aloud with lard. Edit, Force feed 4 of Girls Aloud with lard, one member has in my opinion, a perfect womens body.... Jenson_Rules 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2009 Oh and I suppose I do accept your criticisms of them as quite legitimate. They don't write most of their songs (though the one pictured has writing credits on a LOT of their songs) and they don't play instruments. But then, like I said, they are a different kettle of fish to the typical 'guitar band'. Thankfully however, there is a place for them all in the world of music, as again, thankfully, everyone has their own taste, hence why music in ALL forms is such a great thing. Autumnpuma 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 I dusted off the old Dan Posts this weekend and spun some vinyl. Merle, Waylon, Buck and a wee bit of George Jones (gotta be careful with George..too much and you go looking for a loaded gun to eat). In the process I nearly convinced my wife that '50-60s country is pretty damned good. Nearly being the operative word there.

Grabthaw the Hammerslayer 4 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 <intake of breath> Early Genesis - mmmm, too many songs about pixies for my liking. I prefer the period from Lamb onwards - yes I am more of a Phil Collins Genesis supporter (although this makes me unpopular, I can't be alone as someone bought all their millions of albums). I think Peter Gabriel was and is better out of Genesis than in. Best concert I have ever seen was PG on his Up tour a few years ago. Stunning. Funnily enough a few years ago I was given tickets for two other concerts that I would not otherwise have bothered with - James Brown and Tom Jones both very good. ....and Midge Ure is excellent live too - especially when he just stands on stage with an acoustic guitar and does renditions of his stuff and Ultravox. Takes balls to do that. Worst concert was either Aswad and dare I say it - a big do in Wembley in the nineties with Hall & Oates, Jethro Tull and Fleetwood Mac - great line up (I thought), terrible, terrible concert - we walked out. Jethro Tull stood head and shoulders over the others. Sadly have never seen Emma Bunton in concert, not that I give a damn about the quality of her singing Sorry, I'm rambling now. Got up too early this morning, brain starved of coffee....

Autumnpuma 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2009 The bits I've heard are excellent. Interested in hearing your review, Mike. The verdict is...........I like it. The predominant 'feel' of the album is very 60's rock-ish. You know, all fast guitar with prominent drums. If you're familiar with Krauss, this has all her hallmarks: deep bluegrass roots and ethereal vocals. Plant contributes quite a bit too and you hear shades of Zeppelin mixed into Krauss' arrangements. It sounds like the whole thing would clash horribly, but it doesn't. Krauss ventures into rock a bit and Plant gets a crash-course immersion in American country/bluegrass. Strangely, there's a hint of Celtic folk in there too...think Lorena McKinnitt and you've got it. The Celtic sound isn't big, but it just seasons the top a bit. Damned fine to listen to. In the end, this album is more about Plant's evolution than about Krauss'. In Zeppelin, Plant discovered his power, but in 'Raising Sand' he discovered his soul. This is worth the money for the actual CD, not the download. After hearing this, you'll want to read the liner notes and you'll kick yourself if you only bought the digital version. Lovely stuff. Actually, just heard this live version and the singer sucks. And he's not on tune all the time. And he looks bored.I prefer the artificial studio-recorded version. Also, gives you the chance to listen better to each one of the instruments. Kopite Girl 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2009 I've just been sitting here in my front room with my little acoustic, Insomnia by Faithless blaring out of my stereo, making the coolest little riffs. Well happy! Oh. I play and sing. But not in a band. This is one of the reasons I've gone off the X factor. Its people singing other peoples songs. Manufactured rubbish. What about the kid that sits at home with raw talent and can't get a break for all these 'Jedward' twats clogging the charts. Makes me sick. End of rant.
