Hi all,

Newbie here, just want to say hello and introduce myself.......

Name: TheSilentAssasin

Location: Behind you

Age: 109

Years watching F1: All my life (I will admit I lost interest for a couple of years during the boredom of the Schuey 5

year reign)

Favourite Team: McLaren (Back to the Coulthard days, im not on the Lewis Banwagon, plus they are a British Team

Driver: Lewis Hamilton but I love Massa too!!

My view on current situations........

After searching high and low for good forums I finally settled here after scrawling through hundreds and hundreds of posts on forums with petty arguments about this and that. Yes we are all here for discussions and we all have our own opinion, so here is mine.

On Lewis Hamilton: Yes this kid has been given an excellent (if not the best) car, but anyone that says it is just the car is very narrow minded. I have been following this kid for nearly six years and anybody that knows more than his F1 career will agree with me. This kid is special. Remember 2005 when he took two drivers at Becketts in the GP2 at over 150mph? Pure genius and the sign of a fearless driver!!

People say that he is only on top because of the car and that anybody can win in that car......

So why oh why can't a double world champion and two VERY FAST Ferrari's beat him???

Answer?? Lewis is willing to push the boundaries and he is getting more out of the car than Alonso.....

It's not a biased view its there in stone!!

Some say that Alonso will take time adjusting to his new car.......Sorry but going from a Renault to a McLaren comes nowhere near the jump of a GP2 car to an F1 CAR!!

What people forget is that this kid is still just a rookie and he is giving lessons out left right an centre!!

Hungary, he had major problems and he came back from a lap down to finish 9th!! He never gave up even on that final lap!! He believed he could finish in the points, another 3-6 laps and he would have!!

Anyway there will be people here that will scrutinise what I have said but that is my view and I will be happy to listen to any comments made about my view....Hey, thats why we are all here......!!

However what Lewis has done for the sport in 11 races is more than most do in a lifetime and you have to admit, it is exciting times for the Sport!! Hungary's ITV viewings were up 30% on 2006!!

As said before the 5 year Schuey/Ferrari reign bored the hell out of me, but the sport is back, BMW are closing the gap on the front two, drivers are battling for points. Yes it is all between to top two and people say that is boring......

What like Man U and Chelsea season after season????

No we watch becasue we love the fierce battle between the two rivals and it is the same for any sport!!

To me F1 is back and i love it!!

Largely the reason of why I returned.

Welcome, but i hate people who say "the shuey era was boring" Senna was very domminant, but i haven't heard of people complaining that it was boring with him "winning too much"

The others were not as good as him. You should be privalaged to have seen one of the greatest drivers of all time at there prime.

Anyway, welcome to TF1

Senna only won back to back seasons once. Every season in which he won was pretty close.

He wasn't anywhere near as dominant as MS during the early 2000s, especially 2001 & 2002. Those were dominant enough to get a little dull in places. 2004 was just ridiculous- I almost went off F1 after that year.

Does that mean he wasn't as good a driver as Schumi? I'm serious. (For all the people who say the driver is more important than the car.)

Same as me. I hardly finished watching a single race during 2001, 2002 & 2004. Most of the time ended up with the TV watching me sleeping.

Most of my hard-core Ferrari friends did the same, started snoring and sleeping after the first pit stop.

Hope Ferrari won't spoil the sport going forward.

 Ok, some things in F1 are not an exact science. That is why I am so against a results oriented apprciation of F1 (or any other sport, for they are also an aesthetic experience, not just a statistics galore)

You can throw all the numbers you want to, or twist the statistics any way you want to, and prove tha Schumi was vastly superior to Senna (I know you didn't do that, I am just saying you can do it if you want to). Truth is, nobody that has seen Senna race would believe you. It is not something you can prove with numbers. Oh yeah, I could say that the drivers Senna raced against were superior to Schumis opponents, but that would be just part of the truth. The truth is: you watched Senna at that moment, you would have no doubts about his superiority. You could feel it. Like I said before, is more of an aesthetic feeling than a pure mathematical proof. But just as irrefutable.

People say "ferrari were too dominant" in the early 2000-2004, but the fact is, that they were not "too dominant" it's because the others teams were to rubbish to even get close to them. If they had put as much effort into developining a competative car back than as ferrari had done, things might have been different, but as they did not, ferrari won, simple as.

Consistancy, young James...in the MotoGP thread you said it was boring because Stoner is winning everything, so how was it not also boring when Schumi was doing the same :eusa_think: ?

When MS was so dominant, the interesting part of the races was everyone else.I mean,I didn't care if he dominated,as long as there were battles for other positions. The same as MGP 07.I don't stop watching a race because it's clear that Stoner is going to win again.(Even if it bothers me, :P )That would show I'm not a real fan of the sport.
