Dream Job

Recommended Posts

So.

What is your dream/ultimate job? A friend of mine says to me that there is no dream jobs, but she talks bollocks.

I would love to be a historian/archaelogist. My specialist field would be Occultism and its practices.

Do you have your dream job already? What are you qualified for? What do you do?

I definitely don't have my dream job right now. My degree is in Pharmacology but these days I'm a software engineer for a Telecoms company (which is as exciting as it sounds). Being in Silicon Valley that pays pretty well so in a sense I'm happy to stay put while the cash is flowing.

But obviously I hate it I hate it I hate it. I'd much prefer to be doing something creative:

1) Writer- easily my first choice

2) Musician, preferably playing in bars and blues clubs

3) Photographer/Traveller/Writer combination. This is the one I feel like I might actually do one day.

Nice one Dribbler. I'm a drummer for one band and a bass player in another. If either outfit could provide me with a living, then I'd have a dream job, alas thats not the case...yet!

F1/MotoGP/World Series comentator (man that would be the laziest job ever, and I'm sure I'd do better than James Allen :P )

And I'd get to travel... :cool22:

 Hey, that was in the late 70s, not now!

I'd do commentary. Not sure what my first choice sport would be though. ALMS would be cool but only 11 rounds. I'd love to call the Indy 500. The IMS Radio Network (they do the Indy races and all the races at the Brickyard) seems to have a blast doing the calls; I'd love to do that. Or if it's really a dream I'd like to control NASCAR.

Video Game tester... Easiest Job ever? Actually would it be a job??

But Photography is also cool

Yeah I thought that would be an easy job too, but then I saw a documentary which shows that you would have to test the same part of a game (like say a level) over and over again, probably more than a dozen times. So easy but very repetitive and potentially boring.

I wouldn't mind being a commentator myself, or perhaps being in a band or a chat show host.

I'd like to be a rap star. Or maybe a writer of something more profound. Well the ideal job is something that gives me satisfaction but I have no idea really what that would be. Maybe it would involve helping people somehow.

Video game tester would be super boring.

"Walk along all the walls in this game and check you don't fall through any of them".

"Stand on this post and see whether you get killed by these extremely stupid ant-creatures or whether they just walk around you in circles forever".

etc.

Depends on the game, Though it's takes me a while to get bored of games, I always give it another chance...

Maybe i should be more specific like what Jay said, play the game and write reviews :D

A gigolo who services women only.

@Ankit, a friend of mine is close to being a video game tester. His "job" is to play games & write their reviews.

Getting paid for some of the things I already do like, for example, long-distance off-road riding. If I were paid, I would then have the motivation to put on writing how to ride to and through some of the most remote and wild fcked-off places I discover...

Anything F1 related, wouldn't mind driving.

Yep, being a Rockstar also sounds good.

I could happily test videogames as well.

Actually my dream job would be to be on those talking heads shows where they count things down. I'd do that forever.

What is your dream/ultimate job?

I like to write children's stories for fun 'n chill, if I could get paid more than I get now for that, I'd be happy for a while - I like change. Other than that, anything that I enjoy, and provides the financial freedom to do what no-one will pay me for ;)

Do you have your dream job already?

I'm pretty close to my dream job, I love what I do. Got a job of my (childhood) dreams once though - left school to work for a race car manufacturer in sunny Bolton. Fantastic time.

What are you qualified for?

Motor Vehicle Mechanics City & Guilds for when I was a mechanic straight from school (hated school with a passion btw...). Long time, and several lifetimes later, an MBA (international business/marketing). So I'm qualified to fix yer car and sell it abroad :P

What do you do?

Web/Internet marketing to (mainly) UK, US and Chinese companies.

.....My specialist field would be Occultism and its practices.

You should do that now Steph, it's an amazing, fascinating subject - but no bad smells spells on me thanks

I would like to be a fashion designer, or a model hahahaha! Or a singer, or an F1 driver, Lewis maybe the first black f1 driver, but I would steal his media attention by being the first (openly) gay F1 driver! :P

Bass and drums? I'm not worthy. I scream out something I like to think resembles a tune, fiddle with strings on my 'strat to bang out a song and occasionally tickle the ivories. It's therapeutic for me but i think i would make grown men cry if I played in public. Mind you, Westlife and Girls Aloud are getting away with far worse...........

Lol. Watch out, Ben's coming...

Top Gear, it'd be cool to be the Stig, i'd be a presenter but the curent 3 are too good to replace.

---

Am I qualified for anything? Well I have GCSEs and A-levels. Having said that, i've never had a job (apart from a paper-round)

I really enjoy my work, and would almost call it a dream job, but a job in Motorsport would really be a dream job I guess.

I'm a Sales Manager (Motor Industry).
